Kano Computing, the company behind the Stem Player, has revealed the Stem Projector. The portable palm-sized gadget is similar to the player, with a round shape and flesh-like material cover. The device has a maximum brightness of 300 lumens or 150 ANSI lumens, with 128 GB storage and a microSD card slot. The Projector comes with a range of curated movies, or you can upload your own content to the gadget. Plus, the product has Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity, and you can cast content to the device via Apple AirPlay and Google Chromecast.
You can also use the Stem Projector to create content by altering the color palette of a film, adjusting the playback speed or changing the screen's shape. A Galaxy View can pull together similar-looking scenes from the content to display "endless dreams". The projector has built-in stereo speakers, plus it appears that you can connect the Stem Player for a boosted audio experience. You can control the gadget via a select button and touch controls with haptic feedback. Ports on the device include USB-C, mini HDMI and an audio jack.
The device has an integrated kickstand and can also be sat inside the carry case to throw images at a steeper angle. The Stem Player was designed in collaboration with Ye, formerly known as Kanye West. The new Stem Projector does not appear to be linked to the artist. You can currently pre-order the Stem Projector for US$1,000. Only 1,000 units of the device are available initially in a limited edition color, with the product due to ship this Spring. The projector is expected to retail from US$600 in the future.
