The recent Dell XPS 13 leak has left little to the imagination when it comes to the company’s plans for its Snapdragon X-powered machine. However, aside from information like XPS 13 specifications and battery life, one of the leaked documents also breaks down the cost of the XPS 13 components.
This cost breakdown lists an interesting tidbit regarding the XPS 13 9345: The Snapdragon X Plus SoC was predicted to cost Dell less than half the price of the Core i7-1360P Raptor Lake CPU featured inside the XPS 13 Plus 2023 (Available on Amazon).
Going into more detail, the Snapdragon X Plus, which is mentioned in the document as “Nuvia 10C 45T”, reportedly had a predicted cost of $145, whereas the Core i7-1360P cost Dell $293 in March 2023. As hardware gets cheaper over time, Dell had posited that “at transition” the Core i7-1360P would cost $276 or $17 lower than March 2023. But, even with this price reduction, the Snapdragon X Plus was expected to be much cheaper.
A positive aspect of cheaper SoC procurement is that companies can pass these savings on to the consumers. To that end, the Dell XPS 13 9345 with the Snapdragon X chips could launch at $1,199, a respectable $100 cheaper than the 2024 XPS 13 9340 (Get it from Best Buy).
That said, there are a lot of factors that determine the eventual price of a laptop. So, only time will tell if Dell’s 2023 price prediction for the XPS 13 9345 materializes.
