It turns out that Dell's internal document relating to the XPS 13 9345 contained more than just information about one of the company's first Snapdragon X series laptops. For context, VideoCardz shared a link yesterday to a Dell document titled 'Tributo QC Plan Phase Exit'. Uploaded in February 2024 on Scribd, the document originates from August 2023 and principally covers Dell's plans for a Snapdragon X Elite version of the XPS 13 9340 (curr. $1,599.99 on Amazon).
However, the same document goes much further by including a roadmap that covers 2023 through 2027. Embedded below, the 'XPS Thinking Roadmap' contains accurate release windows for the XPS 13 9340, XPS 14 9440 and XPS 16 9640 that Dell announced in January. Likewise, it shows that Dell would continue to offer the last-generation XPS 15 alongside newer XPS 13 9340, XPS 14 9440 and XPS 16 9640 machines.
Additionally, the same roadmap suggests that Dell will discontinue the XPS 15 in early 2025. Moreover, the x86-based XPS 13 is slated to last until 2026 in its 'Tributo' current styling. With that being said, there could be four refreshes planned between now and 2026 at the earliest possible dates:
- June 2024: Snapdragon X Plus and Snapdragon X Elite release
- September 2024: Lunar Lake MX release
- January 2025: Arrow Lake-U and Arrow Lake-P release
- July 2025: Qualcomm 'Oryon V2' next-generation Snapdragon X release
- September 2025: Panther Lake release
Surprisingly, it seems that Dell could introduce a new XPS 13 generation in early 2026 codenamed 'Divo' with the same Intel Panther Lake and Qualcomm 'Oryon V2' chipsets found in Tributo by 2H 2025. On top of that, the same roadmap suggests that a Nova Lake refresh is expected to land in early 2027, with Intel having announced the architecture in late 2026. Incidentally, the roadmap also contains details about the futures of the XPS 14 and XPS 16, which we have covered separately.
