Leaks surrounding forthcoming Snapdragon X laptops are coming thick and fast. For context, Windows Report recently revealed photos of the Dell XPS 13 9345 and Inspiron 14 7441 Plus. Also, WalkingCat has returned by providing a look at another forthcoming Lenovo laptop, having already detailed the ThinkPad T14s Gen 6 and Yoga Slim 7.
This time, WalkingCat has published leaked images of a Snapdragon X-powered IdeaPad Slim 5. Embedded below, the photos show a device that resembles the IdeaPad Slim 5 Gen 9, which we reviewed in mid-March. As such, the unreleased variant has a pair of USB Type-C ports spanning its left side, as well as a full-sized HDMI port and a 3.5 mm jack.
Additionally, the ARM-based IdeaPad Slim 5 has a microSD card reader and two USB Type-A ports on its opposite side. In other words, the IdeaPad Slim 5 will have a better port selection than many other Snapdragon X-powered laptops that often omit a 3.5 mm jack, let alone a microSD card reader or USB Type-C ports. Moreover, the same images highlight that Lenovo will equip the IdeaPad Slim 5 with the Snapdragon X Plus rather than a more powerful Snapdragon X Elite alternative. Currently, Qualcomm has only announced one Snapdragon X Plus chipset, the X1P-64-100.
However, there are rumours that Qualcomm has created a lesser X1P-42-100 variant. Based on leaked X1P-64-100 performance numbers, it seems that the Snapdragon X Plus-powered IdeaPad Slim 5 could be less powerful than the IdeaPad Slim 5 Gen 9, which Lenovo offers with a choice of AMD Ryzen Hawk Point APUs and Intel Meteor Lake processors. Unfortunately, WalkingCat has not revealed any other IdeaPad 5 Slim details yet. Likewise, it is unclear when Lenovo will unveil any of its forthcoming Snapdragon X laptops. Supposedly, the first wave of Snapdragon X laptops will debut on May 20.
