Shocking Apple leak reveals iPhone 18 Pro camera, AI Siri apps in iOS 27 months early

Ahead of the June 8 Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), a very unusual leak (coming from a very reputable source) seems to have revealed Apple’s plans for the upcoming iPhone 18 Pro and iOS 27.
The update centers on the total revamp of Siri and significant enhancements to the iPhone’s native camera experience, marking a major push into generative AI.
iPhone 18 Pro and iOS 27: The new Siri finally to become an AI-powered agent
Apple is (finally) expected to update Siri with features that let it act as an always-on AI agent capable of analyzing on-screen content, personal data, and web information. Key changes include:
- Dynamic Island integration: The classic Siri trigger is said to become an interactive animation within the Dynamic Island for voice queries.
- "Search or ask" interface: A new swipe-down gesture from the top-center of the screen will open a dedicated hub for text-based searches, app launching, and AI-powered task management.
- A brand-new Siri app: For the first time, a standalone Siri app is expected to house a chatbot interface (similar to ChatGPT or Claude) featuring conversation history, file/photo attachments for analysis, and voice modes.
- Third-party AI support: Apparently, Apple is testing integrations that allow users to route queries to third-party AI models like Google Gemini, OpenAI’s ChatGPT, or Anthropic’s Claude directly from the interface.
iPhone 18 Pro and iOS 27: Camera app & photo editing upgrades
- The leaked info says the native iPhone Camera app is receiving a significant functional overhaul to appeal to both casual users and professionals:
- Siri and Visual Intelligence integration: A new dedicated Camera mode will replace the current visual intelligence experience, allowing users to snap photos and immediately have them analyzed by Siri (and other AI agents) or searched via Google reverse image search.
- Customizable camera interface: A new "add widgets" panel should allow users to swap out top-row shortcuts, making professional tools like depth adjustments or specific camera modes more accessible.
- Advanced AI photo editing: The Photos app is said to gain new "Reframe" (to change photo perspective) and "Extend" (using generative AI to fill in missing parts of an image) features, bringing iPhone a step closer to what Google offers with the Magic Editor.
More AI features coming to iOS 27 and iPhone 18 Pro
- Natural language shortcuts: Users might be able to create complex automation workflows simply by describing them, rather than building them step-by-step; this relates to the powerful Shortcuts app, which is somewhat confusing to use for most people
- System-wide enhancements: Bloomberg says we can expect AI-generated wallpapers, a system-wide grammar checker, improved Genmoji, and a refreshed "Image Playground" app for AI-generated visuals.
According to Bloomberg, the leaked info and iOS 27 renders are based on detailed description by people who’ve seen the software in action, so they are likely to be close to what Apple actually ships with the iPhone 18 Pro (when the final version iOS 27 is out).
However, it is noted that some features might or might not look exactly as shown or described in the leak; that’s in case Apple decides to make some changes between the iOS 27 beta/preview we expect to see at WWDC (starting June 8) and the final release, in September.
It's worth noting that it's not 100% clear which new features will make it to all iPhones supporting iOS 27 and which ones will remain exclusive to the new iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max and the foldable iPhone Ultra, thanks to the new A20 Pro chip. Apple is known for making certain new software features exclusive to the newest iPhones, so we'll have to wait and see.
