Siri AI will be more 'all-rounded' with the iPhone 18 series

Apple announced the new and improved Siri AI with iOS 27 during WWDC last week. It showed the assistant in action on presumably the iPhone 17 Pro (Max) with its fairly large dynamic island. The animation shows up in a pill shape, which, according to an X user, could change with the iPhone 18 series.
iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max are expected to arrive this September, and while the main attraction will be the iPhone Ultra, the more standard phones will also feature a tweaked design. They are said to come with a smaller dynamic island, about 25 to 35% smaller, compared to their direct predecessors. According to X user Michal Langmajer, this reduction in size will result in a perfectly circular Siri AI animation.
Compared to the pill shape, which is a result of the long dynamic island on the iPhone 17 series, the more rounded design should be more cohesive with the rest of the ecosystem, software, and more pleasing to the eyes. Furthermore, devices that do not have a notch already have a circular Siri animation.
Reportedly, the smaller dynamic island is expected to be present on the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max models, with the iPhone 18 base model staying the same. Apple has been able to reduce the size of the island by relocating the Face ID components. That’s according to leaks and rumors, of course, as Apple has not shared any information on the development.
The full scope of Siri AI will be available on iPhone models with at least 12 GB of RAM, but there are some restrictions. Check out our WWDC and Siri AI coverage for more details.
