An alleged real-world image of an iPhone 18 Pro prototype has leaked, seemingly confirming the 25-30% smaller Dynamic Island rumors we’ve been hearing. Apple’s upcoming 2026 flagships are rumored to feature TSMC’s first 2nm chip - the A20 Pro SoC and a variable aperture main camera.

A fresh image (supposedly) showing a prototype of the upcoming iPhone 18 Pro with a smaller Dynamic Island has begun circulating on social media, and the Apple community is buzzing with speculation that this could be our first real-world look at Tim Cook’s last new iPhone as CEO.

The dimensions of the "Dynamic Island" in the alleged iPhone 18 Pro photo (which should be taken with a good pinch of salt) appear significantly reduced, aligning closely with recent design unit leaks of the iPhone 18 Pro Max that showed a 25-30% smaller cutout.

According to supply chain insights, Apple aims to shrink the Dynamic Island by moving the Face ID infrared illuminator beneath the display, while keeping the camera and dot projector in a smaller pill-shaped cutout.

Cupertino might use laser micro-drilling to ensure sensor accuracy is not compromised by the display layers, marking a significant step in the company's long-term goal of achieving the "all-screen" iPhone 20 we’ve been hearing about.

The alleged iPhone 18 Pro prototype leak matches with recent leaks of a smaller Dynamic Island - still, take it with dose of skepticism.

The iPhone 18 Pro design units we saw a few days earlier seem to confirm the smaller Dynamic Island.

Several iPhone 18 Pro leaks seem to confirm the smaller Dynamic Island fans always wanted; Apple has more upgrades on the way

Beyond the smaller Dynamic Island, the iPhone 18 Pro series is expected to retain a familiar design to the iPhone 17 Pro while introducing a few internal upgrades:

  • Variable aperture main camera: A first for the iPhone lineup, allowing for better depth-of-field control
  • A20 SoC: The iPhone 18 Pro series is rumored to debut TSMC’s first 2nm process chip, promising massive efficiency gains.

Apple is expected to officially unveil the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max in September 2026 with John Ternus taking the stage for the first time after Tim Cook’s retirement.

Once again, as with any other leak, the leaked image should be approached with a dose of skepticism as it hasn’t yet been corroborated by established industry insiders or supply chain reports.
