iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max new colors, camera design show up in another leak - Apple playing it safe?

We are a summer away from the launch of the new iPhone 18 Pro series, and the most recent social media leak featuring iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max camera protective covers provides another look at the (seemingly) final color options we’ll get with Apple’s new flagships.

While Cupertino is introducing a new signature Dark Cherry finish (a deep wine-like red) replacing the super-popular Cosmic Orange, the overall camera layout remains consistent with iPhone 17 Pro series (which received a rare Apple design upgrade). Alongside Dark Cherry, the iPhone 18 Pro lineup is expected to include Light Blue, Dark Gray, and Silver.

None of the leaked colors looks nearly as striking as the Cosmic Orange of the 17 Pro lineup, which suggests Apple wants to play it safe - perhaps keeping the fun colors for the vanilla iPhone 18 (expected in the Spring of 2027).

Although the leaked protective camera covers show the familiar triple-lens arrangement, reports suggest a slightly thicker camera plateau to accommodate a new 48MP variable aperture primary camera. In related news, iOS 27 should bring a revamped, pro-grade iPhone camera app (to debut on the new iPhones).

While the face of the iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max may see a noticeably smaller Dynamic Island cutout, the rear design leaks confirm that John Ternus & Co will be focusing on internal upgrades, such as the new 2nm A20 Pro chip and Apple Intelligence with the new Siri.

All in all, considering the foldable iPhone Ultra is expected to break cover during the same Apple event, it’s going to be nearly impossible for the iPhone 18 Pro to become the star of Apple’s September show. Even if it’s painted in the colors of the rainbow.
