Full iPhone 18 lineup cases revealed ahead of launch; variable aperture camera to bring thicker design
After we saw the first leaked cases for the iPhone 18 Pro, we now get an image that shows protective cases for the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max and (surprisingly) the vanilla iPhone 18.
It’s unclear why the iPhone 18 case is in the mix, because it is expected to launch in the spring of 2027, thanks to Apple’s (supposed) new release strategy. Unless the plans have changed? For the record, we haven’t seen leaked iPhone 18 renders or design models like we did with the Pro iPhones.
Either way, the iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max cases reinforce the expectations that the design language will remain largely identical compared to their predecessor, the iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max.
That said, the 18 Pro lineup is set for subtle physical changes, says the leaked info. Specifically, the Pro models might be slightly thicker to accommodate the new 48MP variable aperture camera system.
As we move closer to the rumored September launch, it is becoming more likely that while Apple is sticking to a familiar aesthetic, internal hardware changes might necessitate these slight dimensional adjustments, which means iPhone 17 Pro cases won't fit the iPhone 18 Pro.
Of course, that's not a huge surprise as Cupertino loves selling (expensive) accessories, and making iPhone 17 Pro cases compatible with the iPhone 18 Pro wouldn’t be in line with Apple’s business model.
