The launches of the iPhone 17 series and the iPhone Air (curr. $999 - refurbished on Amazon) are well and truly behind us. As a result, leakers have started speculating about the shape of what is to come next for the iPhone. While the iPhone 18 series is not due to launch for another eight months or so, numerous details have already been revealed by various sources.
For instance, iPhone 18 Pro models are now expected to feature 35% smaller Dynamic Island punch-holes than their direct predecessors. Not only that, but Smart Pikachu indicates that Apple may introduce something to which fans of Oppo, Vivo and Xiaomi flagships have been accustomed.
As the screenshot below shows, the leaker suggests that Apple is evaluating teleconverter accessories for its next iPhones. Pioneered by Xiaomi, teleconverters have been co-opted by the X300 Pro, X9 Pro and the upcoming Find X9 Ultra.
Typically, these attach over a smartphone's telephoto lens to provide significantly longer optical zoom options than smartphone optics can currently deliver. Smart Pikachu reiterates that variable aperture optics are being finalised, too. Whether these make it into retail iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max units remains to be seen at this point, though.
