Although Xiaomi still has to confirm it, the second iteration of its TV box should come out soon as it recently surfaced on the FCC certification website. The model number is MDZ-28-AA and its tech sheet includes 4K HDR video rendering, Bluetooth (BR+EDR, LE), as well as both WiFi 2.4 and 5 GHz.

Xiaomi has released quite a few products to take on Google Chromecast so far,and they all turned out to be very successful. Initially available only in mainland China due to content licensing restrictions, the Xiaomi Mi Box with Android TV became accessible worldwide in October 2016. Two years later, the Xiaomi Mi Box S arrived with Android TV Oreo, later updated to Pie. The Mi TV Stick was released in July 2020, and the TV Stick 4K followed in December 2021, packing 4K UHD support, Android TV 11, as well as Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision.

Now, the time has come for the second-generation Xiaomi Box, which was spotted on the FCC certification website as the Xiaomi Box 4K, model number MDZ-28-AA. Unfortunately, the amount of technical details revealed by the listing is quite low. In terms of connectivity, the upcoming product will support Bluetooth BR+EDR and Bluetooth LE, most likely version 5.2, as well as WiFi 2.4/5 GHz. While the chipset is not known yet, the aforementioned listing reveals that the Xiaomi Box 4K will be able to render 4K HDR content.

In addition to the above, it is known that the soon-to-be-released Xiaomi Box 4K will come with a remote featuring voice control, an HDMI cable, a 5 W power adapter (5 V, 1 A), as well as the Mi Box itself. Two AAA batteries for the remote will also be included in the standard retail package. There is no word regarding the launch date or pricing, but we will do our best to keep you posted as usual.
