STIHL has announced a new range of iMOW robotic lawn mowers. There are six robots in the line-up, each equipped with the brand's new Disc Cut mowing system, which has a 28 cm (~11-in) cutting width. The gadgets are suitable for different sized lawns: the iMOW 5 for areas up to 1,500 m² (~16,146 ft²), the iMOW 6 for gardens up to 3,000 m² (~32,292 ft²) and the iMOW 7 to cover a garden of 5,000 m² (~53,820 ft²).
There are two versions of each of these three iMOW models, standard and EVO; they are different colors, plus the EVO models operate at a higher speed and can handle inclines up to 45%. An extension kit is available for the EVO models, with traction wheels and additional axle weights, allowing them to tackle slopes with a 60% gradient. The STIHL gadgets are powered by lithium-ion batteries and will automatically return to the dock to recharge as necessary. The speed at which the mower travels is determined based on its environment.
The robots use built-in ultrasonic sensors to detect and avoid obstacles, relying in part on a guide wire to navigate your lawn. You can control the iMOW robot lawn mower using buttons on the device or the MY iMOW app for smartphones and tablets. For example, you can use the app to adjust the cutting height. Plus, integrated LED lights and spoken alerts can update you on the lawn mower's progress. The new iMOW robot lawn mowers are due to launch in January 2023.
