Roomba Combo j7+ Robot Vacuum and Mop announced with unique retractable mop head
iRobot has announced the Roomba Combo j7+ Robot Vacuum and Mop. The smart home device can vacuum and mop simultaneously with a four-stage cleaning system; the gadget combines an edge-sweeping brush, dual multi-surface rubber brushes, power-lifting suction and mopping. Using the PrecisionVision Navigation system, the robot can intelligently identify and avoid obstacles. Dirt Detect technology identifies areas that need greater focus so the vacuum can clean them more thoroughly.
The Combo j7+ is compatible with the Clean Base, a docking station with automatic dirt disposal; the company indicates that the auto-emptying dock allows for up to 60 days of hands-free cleaning. The gadget can sense carpet and retract the mop; while you can find this feature across other models, iRobot claims that this is the only robot vacuum that retracts the mop fully, lifting the head from the bottom to the top of the device. The suction power of the robot and its expected cleaning time on a single charge are unknown.
You can control the gadget in the iRobot app or with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant voice commands. You can currently pre-order the Roomba Combo j7+ Robot Vacuum and Mop with the Clean Base docking station in the US for US$1,099.99; shipping is expected to begin on October 4. Customers in the UK will shortly be able to buy the device with or without the Clean Base for £999 (~US$1,075) or £799 (~US$860), respectively. The gadget is expected to launch in other markets later this year.
