Samsung has granted a select few journalists a peek into its future offerings in the monitor space. Among them, happens to be a 27-inch QD-OLED monitor with a whopping 5K resolution, allowing for a smartphone-level pixel density of almost 220.
There is concrete information regarding when the monitor is expected to see the light of day, although a launch timeframe set for sometime in 2026 appears more than likely. Of course, the vast majority of gamers are still daily driving monitors with 1440p panels, but for creators, 4K has been the standard for a while now.
While the jump from 4K to 5K might not seem that high, it is, in reality, a whopping 78% increase in the number of pixels, allowing for a truly pixel-dense experience that creators and professionals will surely appreciate. Apple has been shipping products with 5K panels for almost 10 years now, with the $4,999 Pro Display XDR taking that even further with its 6K panel. Of course, none of those utilize OLED panels, which undeniably have their fair share of advantages and disadvantages.
FlatPanelsHD, who were present at the event, were able to note that the panel looked "really, really good", but they are of course not at liberty to disclose any further details. Needless to say, we are completely clueless regarding how expensive the product will be. Judging by the specifications though, it will certainly not come cheap.
