LG has now released the UltraGear 27850A in Japan, which is sold there as the UltraGear 27850A-B. For context, the monitor was recently discovered in a review video posted on Bilibili in China. While LG Japan also shared a few specifications around the same time, launch pricing and full hardware details were not published.
The latter's retail listing reiterates that the UltraGear 27850A-B utilises a Nano IPS panel that outputs at 4K and 240 Hz by default. Alternatively, the new monitor can switch to a second 1080p display mode that doubles its refresh rate to 480 Hz, just like the UltraGear OLED 32GS95UE (curr. $1,096.99 on Amazon) before it. The 27-inch display provides 1 ms GtG response times too, as well as a 2,000:1 contrast ratio, 750 nits peak HDR brightness and 450 nits full panel coverage.
On top of that, the UltraGear 27G850A-B boasts 99% DCI-P3 colour space coverage, plus VESA DisplayHDR 600, AMD FreeSync Premium Pro and Nvidia G-SYNC certifications. The presence of a DisplayPort 2.1 UHBR13.5 connection means that the monitor must rely on Display Stream Compression (DSC) to hit 4K and 240 Hz; a higher UHBR20 bandwidth would be needed to provide an uncompressed 4K and 240 Hz image.
The UltraGear 27G850A-B is currently available to pre-order in Japan for JPY 129,800, which converts to roughly $833. Although LG has not shared any details about global availability yet, we can infer pricing based on other recent UltraGear monitor releases. For example, the recent LG UltraGear OLED 27GX790A retails for about 13% less in the US than in Japan. Therefore, we would expect the UltraGear 27G850A-B to reach other markets like the US for between $700 and $750 and not over $800.
