The Galaxy Z Flip 3 addresses a lot of our complaints with the original Galaxy Z Flip. Not only that, but the new phone is even cheaper than the 5G option Samsung released in 2020. A $999 starting price is very attractive to those who might’ve been on the fence about foldables before. That said, you can get a Galaxy S21 Plus for $999, which has a telephoto lens and better battery life. Furthermore, the Galaxy S21 is just $799 and it also has a telephoto lens. And the Galaxy S21 FE is here, too, with an even lower price tag. Then there’s the $999 iPhone 13 Pro, which is one of the best phones around. In other words, the Flip 3 has a lot of competition and it fails to offer everything that its rivals can. Its terrible battery life certainly doesn't help things. But the Galaxy Z Flip 3 is meant to push things forward, offering something novel versus the glass and metal slabs we’re so used to nowadays. However, the Flip 3's extremely disappointing battery life gives us pause, making it difficult to recommend this phone in the end.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip3 5G competes in the Ultra Premium segment and is an unusual device insofar that it comes with a foldable display, which can be used as a camera support in low-light situations or for selfie shooting, but otherwise, the camera is used in the same way as on most non-foldable phones. With its DXOMARK camera score, the Z Flip3 5G occupies a mid-table position in our Ultra Premium ranking, and in terms of camera performance, it is a clear improvement over the original Z Flip. However, the lack of a dedicated tele lens means it cannot keep up with more conventional Ultra Premium devices when it comes to zoom results.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip3 5G actually comes with two screens– a small external screen and of course, the main screen. The obvious novelty of the device is that it goes from a compact format phone with a screen that flips open into a full-size 6.7-inch smartphone. Despite the noticeable crease on the main display where the screen unfolds, the display’s performance was overall quite good, except when in sunlight, and the device provided a good experience in several use cases. The Galaxy Z Flip3 5G scored very near the top in the video attribute because of its good brightness, contrast, and colors, making it very good for watching HDR10 videos. It also scored highly in motion because of its smoothness, which provided a good experience when browsing the web or playing video games.

The Galaxy Z Flip 3 is a great smartphone that offers a fun experience alongside impressive capabilities if you choose to carry around a charger to top up its weak battery. However, many of its best features, such as its vibrant display or wireless charging, are also available on devices that don't have a crease right in the middle of its screen. Hence, we would probably gravitate towards a less flexible Samsung phone offering or choose to wait for a smartphone which has perfected bending without any creases instead of shelling out for the Flip 3. Even with such a unique design, you need to nail the basics -- and the Flip just hasn't gotten there yet.

To sum up our time with the Galaxy Flip3, we'd say it's a great and novel phone with atrocious battery life and a camera system that, while decent, simply can't compete with the best of the best in any way. And then there's the foldable elephant in the room. Sure, folding your phone still feels new and cool, but the fact that the Flip3 folds presents less of an advantage than in the case of the Fold3, where quite a few disadvantages are neatly being offset. Hear us out: the Fold3 gives you an inner screen that's almost small tablet-like, but you get no such thing on the Flip3. In fact, the only upside is that, when folded, it's smaller on two axes. Not all three, though, which of course means it gets significantly thicker (a fact not aided by the hinge which isn't gapless). So if you're considering this device, the main question for you is: is this shrinking in two of three dimensions when folded actually worth everything you're paying for it?

The Galaxy Z Flip 3 is the first foldable that makes sense to recommend to most people. It's not just the price that's better this time around, either. Water resistance, fantastic screen protectors build-in, a uniquely durable design, great performance and battery life, and reliable cameras mean you'll enjoy every day with the Flip 3, even if there are some improvements Samsung could make next year.

Samsung tweaked the Z Flip 3 in just the right ways to make it an enticing option for regular consumers. It’s the first foldable that feels like an easy recommendation for normal buyers rather than early adopters, as it delivers the whole smartphone experience at an attainable price point. There are still a few shortcomings. When it comes to pros, Samsung really dialed up the quality of the hardware. The Z Flip 3 is a more robust smartphone thanks to the new glass, aluminum, display cover, and IPX8 rating. The processor does an admirable job, as does the 5G connectivity, and Samsung gave the phone powerful software tools for making use of the folding screen. As for the cons, well, the battery and camera are what bug us the most. Nearly any other $1,000 flagship will beat the Z Flip 3 in those clutch categories. It’s all about what compromises you’re willing to make. There’s no question the Z Flip 3 is an enjoyable smartphone to use. It’s novel compared to the boring slabs of today’s market — and novel sometimes goes a long way.

Although not a giant leap forward compared to its predecessor, the Z Flip 3 is a much more fluidly designed device. It's now deep into its life cycle, but this is still the foldable phone to beat. With a price tag that tackles 'normal' flagships head-on, too, it'll certainly turn some heads - even if there are a few compromises that are part and parcel of a foldable.

With a $999 starting price, the Galaxy Z Flip 3 is an "affordable" foldable, with a 6.7-inch FHD+ inner display with a 120Hz refresh rate. The outer display is four times bigger and more durable than its predecessor, but the 3,300 mAh battery has us worried about the Flip 3’s longevity.

Samsung kept a few of the most limiting features from the original Galaxy Z Flip models, but the key upgrades to 2021’s Galaxy Z Flip 3 keep it ahead of the pack. The external display offers more use cases than ever, while the flagship processor gives the device enough punch to keep up. It even offers an IPX8 rating and Samsung’s most approachable price for a foldable at $999. While it’s not perfect, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 is still the most fun I’ve had with a phone in a while even today. It feels more refined for everyday use, yet the daily experience never becomes that of “just another phone.” Even with the more recent launch of the Galaxy S22 series, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 is just as enjoyable as it was at launch, and a viable alternative to the equally-priced Galaxy S22 Plus ($999) for those looking for a unique experience. That said, the Galaxy Z Flip 3 doesn’t always justify that asking price in some crucial areas. Its battery life and camera setup come up notably short, mainly because they remain unchanged from previous generations.

We’re not getting too in-depth here mainly because this phone, like the Galaxy Z Fold 3, has been out for a hot minute already. A lot of it is also comparable to the Samsung Galaxy S21 so there isn’t much new in terms of specs to speak about. The only head-turning features here in my opinion are the folding display and the cover display. It’s still a great talking point when you whip it out in public and people genuinely are curious about it. Not to mention that the cover display is genuinely very useful. So is it worth picking up the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 over something like a Galaxy S21 or even the new Galaxy S22? That depends. You’ll definitely get more performance and battery life out of the regular S-series devices and much better battery life. However, the Galaxy Z Flip 3 does have the edge when it comes to the coolness factor. Regardless, it’s been more than six months since its release, and I’d honestly say to just go and get the Galaxy S22 instead, which just came out. Save your money and go for the better device or wait until the Galaxy Z Flip 4 comes out. Whenever that might be.

On the side of the shortcomings of this phone, I will first of all replace the battery. You can complain a bit about throttling, which is shown by benchmarks, but which is not fully felt in the real use of this phone. You can complain about the lack of a mini-jack and the inability to expand the memory. However, you do not have to worry about the durability of this device. This year's Samsung foldable smartphones have waterproof covers. I have managed to find out that they also have very solid and durable hinges. In turn, flexible screens are not as delicate as they seem. I've been using this phone for quite a long time and it still looks and works like new.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 is in many ways an improved version of its predecessor. The new folding mobile thus comes with 5G and the latest Snapdragon 888 processor, and then the foldable screen has been given an update frequency of 120 Hz, just as the front screen is now 1.9 inches and thus really usable. The mobile also comes with IPX8 certification, so it can also withstand being dropped in the toilet. The form factor makes the mobile take up less space in the pocket, and together with the excellent camera, the Galaxy Z Flip 3 gives users completely new creative possibilities. Most notable, however, is the price, which has gained a marked downward trend. Compared to Samsung’s first folding mobile, the Galaxy Z Flip 3 has cut more than a third from the price, which makes the foldable smartphone a far more attractive purchase than its predecessor. Only a too small battery and the resulting short battery life spoils the overall impression, so we unfortunately do not see ourselves able to give the Galaxy Z Flip 3 the top rating that the phone would otherwise certainly have deserved.

This phone folds horizontally across the centre of the screen it means when open you are able to have 6.7 inches of depth in a single view. When your finger moves across the central area of the screen there is a little resistance and if you look closely at the darkened screen you can see the crease in the screen, however does this affect anything else?

After a few too many stumbles along the way, we’re finally in a position where buying a folding phone isn’t a daft, money-wasting decision. The Galaxy Z Flip3 5G is precisely what we’ve been waiting for, ever since we first caught a glimpse of Samsung’s flexible displays all those years ago. It’s a top-end foldable flagship with very few compromises and a price that’s attainable instead of unreachable. What more could you possibly want? Indeed, the iPhone 12 Pro costs the same amount and while, admittedly, it comes with its own list of positives, it seems to lack inspiration next to the exciting, forward-looking Galaxy Z Flip3 5G. The folding future might still be taking its first steps, but this is one smartphone that will take some beating on the road ahead.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3’s unique selling point is without a doubt its unique foldable clamshell design. If you find this to be very appealing, then the enhanced durability and attractive inner display might persuade you to buy one. But bear in mind that you can get much better cameras and battery life from standard-format smartphones of the same price.

It's clear Samsung's goal was to make a more mainstream-friendly product that will begin to set the stage for Folds to come. Water resistance is likely the single most important feature they could have added to ensure that everyday life doesn't ruin the Fold 3, and seemingly small hardware improvements like the new PET screen protector make a huge difference in everyday usage of the phone. It's a solid improvement that makes it more realistic for more people to own a Fold, and in that respect, Samsung achieved its goal for 2021. The Galaxy Z Fold 3 is the first mainstream-ready Fold in many ways. While the price is still quite high, great offers from Samsung and the carriers make the phone easier than ever to get. Great software, a unique experience, S Pen capability, and reliable cameras all mean you'll continue to be happy long after buying the phone, too.

You can multitask on this phone without any hitch thanks to the powerful Snapdragon 888-8GB RAM combo. Do note that the storage is non-expandable, but for many users, 128 or 256GB is more than enough for their needs. I can’t say the same for the 3,300mAh battery. Especially on a busy day, you’ll need to charge your phone before going to bed.

Priced at Rs. 84,999 for the 8 GB/ 128 GB version and Rs. 88,999 for the 8 GB / 256 GB version, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 definitely finds itself in the premium zone. And yes, on paper, its specs are not only matched but surpassed by a number of other phones. But the Flip 3 is not about specs. It has the Flip factor, which gives it a massive edge over all the other smartphones in this segment. It is a very polarising device that will either have you swooning over it or will leave you a little disappointed, but either way, it will your attention. The launch of the Galaxy Z Flip 3 also marks a significant step in the foldable phone market, as it represents a form factor that has functional value. This is actually one of the most practical and budget-friendly (even when it costs nearly 90k) foldable phones that users can use in their day-to-day lives.

I want to start this post by making it very clear – I’m extremely apprehensive about the new Samsung Galaxy Z Flip3. I’ve seen previous iterations of this flip smartphone and the constant open and closing of the screen causes a very ugly line across the display that does not age well. Samsung has said that the Flip3’s foldable protective film provides 80% more durability. However to test this you’d need constant daily use to confirm. The phone retails at R21 999 and it really is adorable. I actually think it is mega cute and dig it but, again, I’d be apprehensive spending that sort of money based on what I’ve seen past screens do. I was sent the device to review (and give back) so I don’t have a chance to check the durability of said screen, but there are two features that are unique to the flip phone that I love.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip3 5G is a watershed smartphone as it’s the first mainstream foldable phone with excellent build quality, IPX8 water resistance, an innovative design and respectable specifications. For many, the Galaxy Z Flip3 5G has plenty of power to tackle the needs of the vast majority of users and its wide variety of colourways makes it appealing indeed. Unfortunately, its Achilles heel remains its modest battery life. For power users who need the absolute best that Samsung has to offer, the Galaxy Z Fold3 5G and the Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G beckon.

I love the Galaxy Z Flip 3. But then I loved the first Z Flip too, and this is an improved version of that at a much better price. There are drawbacks – battery and camera primarily, though durability is in there too – and you’ll know if those are dealbreakers for you. But for most people, I think they won’t be. And Samsung has absolutely nailed the aesthetic and functionality of this form factor, enough so that it feels like an unequivocal upgrade on a regular phone and no longer has the prototype sheen of the first gen. If you don’t get the appeal of a foldable flip phone then this may not win you over – but if you’re tempted, then there’s really no need to wait any longer. This is the real deal.

I think the Z Flip3 marks a crucial period in the history of folding phones. As of this particular model, foldables aren't some halo product. You can go out right now today and order one, and I think the average person will probably be happy with it, outside issues like battery life. Folding phones have arrived — they're a mainstream option now. But, should you buy one? For most of our readers, who have frankly quite high requirements in a smartphone, the answer is still probably "no." But it's less clear cut now, and for more and more of you, the answer is starting to be "yes." The Galaxy Z Flip3 occupies an awkward spot, and feels almost like a mix between premium and mid-range. Part of me wishes Samsung had simply taken the plunge, cut a few more corners, and given up things like mmWave 5G and the flagship Snapdragon 888 chipset to hit an even lower price. I would bet that if this phone is worth $999, Samsung could have found a way to make us an even lower-end $800-750 model, in the spirit of a Galaxy Z Flip FE.

Alright, if we’re honest, no… You don’t need your phone to flip, just like you don’t “need” an electric car. Both gas and electric perform the same function with similar capabilities and a separate list of conveniences. Now, the reason I use the analogy is that right now the only reason most of us debate buying an electric car is their price difference. Like a foldable, an electric car is cool but has historically included a list of compromises for more money. So what would happen if you were offered a Model 3 for the same price as a Corolla? Would that change your perspective? Ok, so what if there was a foldable that cost the same or less money than a regular flagship, and brought nearly zero compromises? Get where I’m going? This is the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3. The least expensive of the company’s new foldables, and yet the one I feel is the most important. So, for the past decade, we’ve kind of seen history repeat itself. Phones are becoming larger as consumers demand larger screens for content consumption, and we have the iPhone 12 mini flop to prove it.

Separately from the value proposition, there's also a small worry in the back of my mind. Right now, Samsung's on its third generation of folding devices. The only possible competitor in the market is Huawei, and due to US sanctions, that company's future is a question — and its products aren't available in the 'States even if it somehow survives. As I see it, Samsung has such a head start on folding phones, I'm not really sure that anyone can catch up to it without a tremendous investment that the current foldable market can't justify. And later, the gap will be too big to plug. Samsung's foldables are the best you can get, and by the time they're truly good enough and cheap enough for anyone, they might be the only ones you can get, and that's not great for competition. The Z Flip3 is still a win for Samsung, and it's a win I can recommend to more of our readers than ever — especially if you don't need great battery life, a premium camera, Wi-Fi 6E, fast charging, a fantastic screen... and you're starting to see the problem.

This was a complex review to write up and think about. Why? The Galaxy Z Flip3 5G is one of these new categories still in the testing phase. Yes, this is the 3rd generation, but it’s still not totally out of the woods regarding problems. At the same time, Samsung has made a lot of improvements to foldables in general. It will take at least the next year to see how these phones fare in actual-world use. Still, I think that if you’re curious about foldable devices and feel the need to use one. The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip3 5G is the one you should buy. It’s refined enough that I believe it should hold up to daily use, and most people shouldn’t have any issues with it. Battery life may be a problem for some, but everything else is nearly identical to something like the S21 Ultra. The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip3 5G is the best foldable device currently on the market for under US$1K worth even considering. It’s not for everyone, but I think it’s the breakthrough foldable of the year.

Personally I wouldn’t get it because, as a power user, I don’t think I can live with the short battery life on the Z Flip 3. And the fact that it only supports 15W “fast” charging is also what puts me off. But if you don’t mind having to charge your phone multiple times a day or have a powerbank with you at all times, I think that there’s no other phone cooler than the Z Flip 3. And the Z Flip 3? It is now more durable, it has a water resistant rating and the cover screen is so much bigger compared to the first Z Flip. And plus, the Z Flip 3 is now much more affordable than the first Z Flip. The starting price is only RM3,999 for the base model with 128GB of storage and if you need more storage, there’s the one with 256GB of storage and it is going for RM4,199.

At RM3999, the Z Flip 3 is a recommended purchase if you are onto your first foldable phone and especially when you are sick of gigantic smartphones in your pocket, the only question that remains for now is how reliable the Z Flip 3 is over the ownership period, the display crease is still present and there's no dust resistance which can still potentially damage the internals over time.

Overall, I rate the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip3 very highly. It seems that foldable devices are fully suitable for everyday use. I note the presence of water resistance, stronger aluminum body, glass panels and displays. I also praise the larger external screen, thanks to which you do not need to constantly unfold the smartphone. My only complaint is the unpleasant glare when using polarized glasses. If you are looking for an elegant, classy foldable smartphone, then the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip3 might be the best choice. It really is at the forefront of technology: it has the unusual form factor and offers high performance, excellent cameras and a magnificent screen. Two, even.

While the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 5G won’t be for everyone, this is a device that proves folding phones can actually work for the masses - I really like it and would actually buy it as my next phone. Samsung has done a really great job at making this accessible and convenient. They’ve managed to combine style and standout features with well thought out software, and it all comes under a price tag that doesn’t make your eyes water so much. The one major downside is the simplicity of the camera system because at this sort of price you would expect the camera to be seriously accomplished as opposed to just quite good, folding phone or not. Despite that, I would still consider buying this phone myself because frankly, it’s a pretty cool piece of kit.

While previous folding phones were priced way out of the range that we mere mortals could afford, this Galaxy Z Flip 3 starts at just RM3,999. Sure, that seems expensive at a glance, but it’s really not. You have to remember that not even that long ago, folding phones were upwards of six thousand ringgit devices. But today, this folding device is even more affordable than an iPhone 12 Pro. Yes, the base model Z Flip 3 only has 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, which is a little small by 2021 standards. But I think that’s an OK sacrifice to make just so Samsung could bring the price down to this level. ON CAM Because again, this isn’t a device that’s designed to be the most practical smartphone. It’s a device designed to make you feel special…and at below RM4,000 I think that might just be a bargain.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip3 is not the perfect smartphone but it will certainly be the one to push foldables toward the mainstream. You get solid performance thanks to the Snapdragon 888 SoC, bigger cover display with improved usability, great main display with punchy colors, 120 Hz adaptive refresh rate support, IPX8, decent stereo speaker setup, good camera quality and improved overall durability. However, it does have its fair share of flaws. The battery life / capacity could be better, it would better if the speaker volume could be louder, no telephoto camera, and no headphone jack. At RM3,999, it’s hard to complain as it’s the cheapest foldable smartphone you can get now and the price is on par, if not slightly cheaper, than your typical premium flagship smartphone of this year. At the end of our Samsung Galaxy Z Flip3 review, I award this foldable smartphone with our coveted Gold Pokdeward.

Priced Rs 84,999 for the base model with 8GB RAM and 128GB on-board storage, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip3 5G is an inexpensive gateway to Samsung foldable future. It is a bold and beautiful smartphone, which surely attracts attention. The phone has some limitations like thermal issues and weak battery, but these are conditional and prop up only when the phone is used to its max potential. That said, power users are better off with the Galaxy Z Fold3 5G to experience a true foldable device experience. For others, the Galaxy Z Flip3 5G is good.

If you’re looking for a mobile phone that is the perfect head turner and conversation starter, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 is where it’s at. Price-wise, it’s much more affordable at S$1,398 this time around and makes a lot more sense now. Size-wise, it’ll be a hit with folks who don’t want to have their phones weigh them down or have limited pocket space. Outside of battery life and cameras, this is one mobile phone to truly set yourself apart from the crowd.

The Galaxy Z Flip3 is a unique phone with one goal: give you an ultra-compact foldable phone with as few tradeoffs as possible compared to a similarly priced “classic” Galaxy phone. And for the most part, it does deliver a near-identical compute performance and legacy functionalities. However, the shorter battery life and lower camera performance (in that order) are essential elements to consider. As I look around me and online, I see more and more people willing to “go Foldable,” and it is projected that Samsung will ship many more foldable phones this year. The Galaxy Z Flip 3 might not be for everyone, but every indicator show this market snowballing fast. Samsung has created the large screen display category, and it would be interesting to see if Foldables follow a similar trajectory. If you’re considering getting a Galaxy Z Flip3, check Samsung’s official page for discounts and other incentives. At publishing time, it was possible to trade in old phones like the iPhone 7 for about $300.

Let’s not mince words here. We love the Galaxy Z Flip3. It’s both incredibly cool and supremely functional. Samsung took last year’s excellent Z Flip and Z Flip 5G, and made them even better -- with a sleeker design, a larger cover screen, and a 120Hz display. As a bonus, we even get mmWave 5G. But what’s even more important is that Samsung was able to lower the price to $1000 (or less -- it's currently on sale for $925) and improve durability by adding water resistance. The Z Flip3 isn’t perfect. Battery life, charging speeds, and the cameras all leave room for improvement. And while the cover screen is intuitive, One UI isn’t for everyone. But ultimately, there are few compromises here, so kudos to Samsung for making something truly special. If you’re looking for a flagship that’s unique and different, but gets the job done in style, we highly recommend the Galaxy Z Flip3.

Does a flip-style foldable really offer any practical advantage over conventional, single-slate phones? In our experience, it's a soft yes, but that really depends on how creative you are, the type of apps or features you use most, and whether you value having the main screen folded away when the device jostles about in your pocket or bag. While at that, it's also time to crank up the fast charging and wireless charging capability (as safely as possible) as the current rates feel a little long in the tooth compared to phone options coming out of China. Otherwise, we think that the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip3 5G is a commendable evolution of the two phones before it - it's a lot more accessible in pricing, has better durability and remains quite easily one of the most stylish phones around.

Samsung’s pricing for the Galaxy Z Flip 3 truly drives home the fact that the South Korean company is fully invested in making foldable phones its future. Setting up the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3, I went in skeptical. Ten days later, I’ve emerged a believer in the form factor. It’s not the phone for the pros — Samsung would rather have you buy a Z Fold 3 for that — but the Z Flip 3 brings a fun factor that we haven’t seen in smartphones for a while. Call me old-fashioned, but the tactility of folding and unfolding a phone for even the most basic tasks creates a degree of separation between the phone and real life, and I enjoyed that right down to the finality of snapping the phone shut to end a call. But what really matters is that Samsung has created a foldable that is priced right in line with mainstream flagships and has the specs to match, while offering something we haven’t seen in smartphones for a long time — a cool quotient. And that is the deal clincher.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 has almost single-handedly revived momentum in the folding smartphone space. So what if a company came along with a similar foldable, for a couple hundred dollars cheaper? Sadly, this particular device will never get further than that “what if” phase. TCL's first clamshell-style foldable will never go on sale, and as such is still known only by the code name its manufacturer gave it: Chicago. In this episode of "Into The Fold," I'll take you on a notional tour of what might have been, and I'll explain why the TCL Chicago still matters to the folding-phone world!

The only real direct competitor to the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 is the Motorola Razr 5G, which retails for Rs. 89,999 and there's only one option, with 256GB of storage. This makes it very similar in price to the Galaxy Z Flip 3's 256GB variant too. Between the two, there isn't much competition if you think about it since the Razr 5G is a mid-range phone, as opposed to the flagship specs offered by Samsung. The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 makes a strong style statement and feels refined enough for everyday use, just like the Galaxy Z Fold 3. I have to point out again that as tough as the exterior is, the folding display still needs some tender love and care. Battery life is not great, especially if you're in the habit of consuming a lot of content, and I still think the outer screen needs to be more functional. If you don't fuss about these things too much, the Galaxy Z Flip 3 could be a fun little smartphone to add to your digital life.

While Samsung promotes the Galaxy Z Flip3 as a fashion statement, it isn't completely devoid of practicality. When folded, it can fit in places where other phones can't, and when unfolded, it has one of the finest displays available, foldable or not. It's also water-resistant and made of higher-quality materials. No, the Flip3's battery life isn't great, it charges slowly, and its cameras aren't exactly cutting-edge. t's also more expensive than a slew of other phones that can do almost everything better. They will not, however, fold in half. Before I wrap my hands-on experience of the Flip3, I'd say this is the first foldable that I can actually recommend to others without hesitation. Samsung Galaxy Z Flip3 5G was never built to be a value offer in the broader scheme of things. If you prioritise coolness over functionality in a phone, it surely gets my recommendation.

Every once in a while a product comes along that changes everything or - at the very least - makes you excited about technology again. The Galaxy Z Flip 3 is such a device. Are there compromises versus choosing one of the top-tier flagships? Of course. But with the latest flip phone from Samsung, those compromises aren't as jarring or upsetting as they were in older generations. It's water-resistant to high levels, has two decent cameras, and the performance of a proper flagship when it comes to speed. And it folds into a compact shape that's so much easier to carry around than a big flagship phone. More importantly the technology doesn't come with a flexible phone tax. It costs less than four-figures - and that's a very big deal for what is definitely the best folding smartphone on the market in 2021.

I said this same thing on the DL Show — If you’re in the market for a foldable, as you want to see what all of the clamoring is about, there hasn’t been a better time. Samsung has lowered the prices and these are easily the best foldables that have hit the market. In every way they’re an upgrade, and while they aren’t perfect, they’re still pretty damn good. People ask me if now is the time for the mainstream market to get into foldables. With the addition of an IP rating, plus the lowered entry cost, I don’t see why not. Plus, if you’re into flexing on people, you won’t find better devices than the Galaxy Z lineup. People love seeing screens get folded in half. Whether this phone is your cup of tea or not, we can at least give Samsung props for what they’ve done here. It’s a really good phone.

In summation, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip3 5G is an amazing piece of technology but it really feels like Samsung are relying on the ‘OMG it’s a smartphone that folds in half’ to really sell the phone. It seems that they are hoping that even though some of the other aspects like battery life aren’t as good as other phones currently on the market, you’ll put up with them just to get the cool new phone. Should you get one? For myself, I wouldn’t. My needs from a phone lean more towards a long lasting battery rather than a super fancy amazing screen which can also fold in half, but if screen quality is high on your priority list, and the wow factor you get from this phone is what you’re after, then the Z3 will certainly impress.

Yes, the Galaxy Z Flip3 5G does have its weaknesses that we found in our review in the Philippines, and Samsung still has some work to do to improve on both the Fold and the Flip but we would still recommend this device wholeheartedly to those of you who have the budget and have been looking into getting a foldable device. It’s a really good phone. It’s not perfect but it is one of the best foldables we’ve seen so far. Add to the fact that while it is still quite the investment to get one of these, they’ve somehow made it more affordable this year despite all the upgrades. Again, it’s not going to be for everyone but we understand the undeniable appeal this may have on certain people who are willing to overlook the compromises for the form factor.

The Galaxy Z Flip 3 is Samsung’s best shot at making a foldable phone mainstream in a meaningful way. It’s not outrageously priced – in fact, the phone costs less than the iPhone 12 Pro. Yeah, it’s not a perfect device but the thought that you can now fold a 6.7-inch screen in half and turn a phone as small as Chanel’s Compact makeup foundation (ladies will relate to this more) is crazy. To sum up, I have had a great time with Flip 3. It’s the most fun device I have used in a long time.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 should be the phone that takes foldables mainstream. While the battery life will undoubtedly present problems for some users, it isn’t an insurmountable issue and is worth the trade-off if you want a full flagship experience that can fit in any pocket. The Galaxy Z Flip 3 delivers what most people seemed to want from the iPhone 12 mini, an ultra-compact phone that doesn’t compromise on the flagship experience. The 6.7-inch, 120Hz display on the Galaxy Z Flip 3 is second to none; the cameras produce fantastic photos and videos; and the Snapdragon 888 chip should be fast enough to comfortably last you through the four years of security updates you get with the phone. We haven’t reached the point where there are no sacrifices when opting for the foldable form factor, but the Galaxy Z Flip 3 gets very close. If you are willing to work around the short battery life, the Galaxy Z Flip 3 delivers a flagship phone experience unlike any other.

The question that remains for many is: Are foldable smartphones really ready for the prime time. Are these devices ready to become users' primary device and the next major form factor, moving beyond experimental tag? The answer to this is a Big Yes when it comes to Galaxy Z Flip 3. Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 can do all that your regular flagship smartphone can do -- and a lot more. This includes: Taking a selfie using the Flex mode or video calls, viewing notifications on the cover display and many other things. But its biggest USP remains the form factor, the smartphone offers a different design in smartphone market. A design which has certainly evolved and offers several enhancements over its previous models. The display, the hinge and the body are made with materials that make them more stronger and durable. So, if you are looking for something that is different, impressive and durable the Galaxy Z Flip 3 is definitely the smartphone for you.

Accessories allow you to customize your smartphone to its appearance, and on the official Samsung website, you can order exclusive colors that are not available in offline retail. For most of our readers, who have frankly quite high requirements in a smartphone, the answer is still probably "no." But it's less clear cut now, and for more and more of you, the answer is starting to be "yes." The Z Flip3 is still a win for Samsung, and it's a win I can recommend to more of our readers than ever — especially if you don't need great battery life, a premium camera, Wi-Fi 6E, fast charging, a fantastic screen... and you're starting to see the problem. It's a pretty good phone, but $1,000 is still "great" phone territory when it comes to non-folding slabs.

Cutting right to the chase, this is the first foldable I can tell people to buy without any major reservations. Samsung has addressed almost every point of friction when it comes to buying a foldable. At this point, the only real questions on Flip 3 are if the form factor is something that’s valuable to you and if you’re willing to put up with the rough battery life. For a ton of people, I’d argue that the battery outweighs the benefits of the Flip and makes it a phone not worthwhile. However, if you’re fine charging up the device a couple of times per day, I think it’ll serve you well.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 is the best clamshell foldable you can buy, with specs and a price comparable with flagship phones. Its relatively small battery holds it back, as does its lack of a telephoto camera lens, and wary consumers may want to wait to see what innovations come in the next iteration – but if you want a phone that folds up to fit in more bags and pockets, while offering the same performance as flagship phones, the Z Flip 3 is a good option to buy today.

Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip 3 costs $1,259, making it cheaper than the S21+, S21 Ultra, Z Fold 2, Z Fold 3, iPhone 12 Pro and only $5 more than the Z Flip 5G. Galaxy Z Flip 3 is a flagship smartphone, and while it’s definitely not the most affordable phone on the market, its price tag is comparable to other high-end devices out there. In fact, you could argue that the Flip 3 is the first foldable smartphone an average person might consider buying. For those looking to get this phone, I’d also consider buying a case. While the foldable handset is pretty sturdy, I’m still concerned about its durability if I happened to drop it. Not to mention how much you'll be able to fold it over time. Further other flagships on the market typically offer a telephoto lens, better battery life, and a lot have more RAM, but I wouldn’t say you’re giving up a lot with this foldable device. If you’re okay with that and the ever-noticeable crease, this year’s Z Galaxy Flip 3 is a pretty good flagship smartphone option.

Overall, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip3 is definitely a more polished foldable display smartphone than any of its predecessors. It's tougher, slightly thinner and more portable while also being more affordable at just RM3999. While it brings many improvements to the foldable display smartphone market, it could stand to be polished some more though. Fortunately, most of these can be done through software or firmware updates. The hardware is already solid enough to qualify as a flagship device except for perhaps the midrange cameras but it's still a very solid device.

The Galaxy Z Flip 3, Samsung’s Android foldable flip phone, undergoes big changes for 2021. Samsung has increased inner display durability, enlarged the outer display to make it actually useful, added IPX8 water resistance, re-engineered the hinge, made it less slippery to hold and upgraded to stereo speakers. This 5G phone is available unlocked and on all major carriers in a variety of colors (ours is Cream) for $999. It has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor in all countries, a 6.7” UTG (ultra-thin glass) folding display inside and a 1.9” OLED display outside. It has dual rear cameras, Wi-Fi 6, a fingerprint scanner in the side power button, facial recognition and wireless charging / reverse wireless charging.

When Samsung announced the Galaxy Z Flip 3, I was eager to try it out. You can fold it in half. Flip it open with your wrist one-handed. It’s the first foldable that feels like an easy recommendation for regular buyers rather than early adopters, as it delivers the whole smartphone experience at an attainable price point. There are, though, a few shortcomings. There’s no question the Z Flip 3 is an enjoyable smartphone to use. It’s novel compared to the boring slabs of today’s market — and novel sometimes goes a long way. If you’re looking to change up the daily experience of how you use your phone, you can do a lot worse than the Z Flip 3. It’s not a perfect phone and certainly has its share of faults, but some things are worth taking a chance on — and the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 is one of them.

As a productivity dork rather than a fashionista, I find a lot of the appeal of this phone to be that it's smaller in your pocket and it feels nice to use. That's also how I felt about the Apple iPhone 12 mini, and then nobody bought it, I think because its battery life is so poor. It's very possible the Flip3 could meet the same fate. The Galaxy Z Flip3 is just a little challenging, but in a good way that makes you use it more deliberately. Functionally and aesthetically, it's better than the Galaxy S21 and the Galaxy S21+, though it doesn't have the amazing camera or long battery life of the Galaxy S21 Ultra. In terms of the small comparison set of modern flip phones, the Galaxy Z Flip3 is faster and generally works better than the Moto Razr 5G. Battery or beauty? That's where the choice lies. If battery is what matters to you, the Galaxy S21 Ultra remains our Editors' Choice among flagships. But I'd love to see more Flip3 phones in the wild, making the world a bit more thoughtful and lovely.

We have to mention the price first. The new Samsung Galaxy Z Flip3 comes at a much lower price than before – starting at just RM3,999 or USD $999. This is literally the lowest price that a foldable device can have, and it’s quite affordable too – relatively speaking. And I think this phone will sell like hotcakes because it shows that foldable devices are now mature enough to be replacing the traditional smartphones. With the IPX8-rating and a larger cover display in tandem with the lower price tag, those factors are what make the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip3 stand out. The Galaxy Z Flip3 has a lot of improvements over its predecessors that a simple specs sheet simply fails to list out. If you really want to give foldable devices a try, then get the Galaxy Z Flip3.

At comfortably less than a grand, the Z Flip 3 is a more affordable gateway to the world of folding phones, which is a great thing (and might also explain the lack of an upgraded camera setup). If you’re after something that has a beautiful, bold design that will draw eyes the second you whip it out and unfold it, then you’ll be very happy. It nails the basics too, with a capable camera, oodles of power, and all-day battery life. If you’re looking for more function over form though, you might be better off waiting for a future iteration that has a beefed up camera and a larger, faster-charging battery. Or, if you’ve got the cash, pay a premium for something like the Z Fold 3, which justifies its in-pocket thickness and higher price tag with a larger screen that transforms into a tablet. We like where this is going though, Samsung, and we’re excited to see more.

In short, the Flip 3 still isn’t a no-brainer purchase, but that’s no longer because of inherent questions around Samsung’s foldable implementation. Instead it’s a matter of priorities: are the cameras, battery life, and screen size your primary motivations, or do portability and flexibility play a bigger role? The Galaxy Z Flip 3’s biggest achievement is that it makes a foldable design just another distinguishing factor on the spec sheet, rather than a decision that comes with significant compromises. That may not sound exciting on the face of it, but it should make a huge difference for pushing folding phones into the mainstream.

Twenty years ago, it was tough to find a mobile phone in the US that wasn’t also a flip phone. Ten years ago those flips went out of style as the smartphone skyrocketed to mainstream dominance. Nearly two years ago, Motorola blended the two categories with its RAZR reboot. And today, Samsung has brought its own version of the neo-retro clamshell phone down to a price more palatable to more people. I’m Michael Fisher, and … I think I can finally say this: the flip phone is officially back. This is the MrMobile Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 Review.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 5G is available in two variants: the 128GB model that’s priced at PHP 52,990, and the 256GB option that you can get for PHP 56,990. Due to the Galaxy Z Flip’s history with pricing, most of us were expecting something higher than PHP 70,000. That’s why it was a “Wait, what?!” exciting moment to hear that it’s within 50k. It’s not much affordable, but it is now more reasonable, and it’s going to be a game-changer for future foldable smartphones. All in all, this flipping phone checks a lot of boxes, including hype and status so it’s definitely a conversation starter and a head-turner. You get that flagship performance, stunning display, quirky features, tougher build, and deliverable cameras all in this fancy thing that you can discreetly keep in your pocket. But as I’ve mentioned, there’s a catch and it is in the battery. If you are to buy this phone, you should be ready to charge it at least once or twice a day or use a powerbank. Other than that, we’re loving it.

No, the Flip3 doesn't have competitive battery life, it charges slowly, and its cameras are anything but state of the art. It's also more expensive than a myriad of phones that will do most things better. But they won't fold in half. The Galaxy Z Flip3 5G was never meant to be a value proposition in the grand scheme of things. In its more niche foldable scheme, however, Samsung made sure to put an appealing price sticker on it, and if you act quick with the pre-order, the figures are looking even better. The phone is hardly perfect, but the trade-offs almost make sense, and even if they don't entirely, it's hard to argue with the Flip's sheer coolness factor. If you value coolness more than practicality in a phone, then it most certainly deserves our recommendation.

Ultimately, I will stick with the Flip for a little while and see how it goes. It’s admittedly a fun phone, it’s different and I like that. I still have my reservations about foldable phones that this phone hasn’t quite resolved, but it’s the one I feel I can actually pull off compared to the rather large and unwieldy Z Fold 3, essentially a folding tablet. But that's just a personal take, and do make sure to see how Samsung has brought big improvements to the Z Fold 3 and its software in our full review.

Just a few years ago, it seemed like folding phones were just a futuristic experiment. With the Z Flip 3, the second phase of the experiment begins, the one where we find out if folding phones can appeal to more than just early adopters. It’s an important proving ground for the concept and fortunately the Z Flip 3 appears up to the task.

After spending some time with the Flip 3 in the real world, I’ve come to realize a few things: I like being able to fold a phone, put it away and focus on work or living in the moment. But I can also turn a regular phone face down to do that. I enjoy the nostalgia and novelty of closing the Flip 3 when I’m mad at a caller or an app, too. The Z Flip 3 is a satisfying upgrade from the original, thanks to water resistance and a larger, more useful Cover Display. Its $1,000 starting price puts it in the same class as flagships from Apple, Google and Samsung itself, too. While it mostly behaves like a regular modern smartphone that you can fold in half, the Flip 3 is held back by battery life and potential durability issues.

There’s a lot to like about the Galaxy Z Flip 3. It does everything a “regular” smartphone can do, has all the same features as a “regular” smartphone and even comes in at the same price. I can see the Galaxy Z Flip 3 selling millions and perhaps becoming one of the most popular smartphones of the year. The only real issue with the Galaxy Z Flip 3 is the battery life. And if you can work around that, then the Galaxy Z Flip 3 is a really great smartphone to pick up at $999. And if you’re lucky, you can get it for free thanks to the many different deals that are currently available for it. If you’re thinking about the Galaxy Z Flip 3 or the Galaxy S21 Ultra, get the Flip 3. Not only is it cheaper, but you’re going to love living the “flippy boi” life.

With a robust and attractive design, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 smartphone does not present any major changes compared to its predecessor. If you are fascinated by the AMOLED display, you can find it on many phones of the current generation. Although it’s a huge price tag, there’s no such attractive feature except for the shiny hardware. It’s the only thing the Galaxy z Flip3 phone needs to be valued and also the interesting foldable layout. Nothing else can attract you to this model, you’ll get these specs and features on many phones at a much lower price. If you can afford to spend 75k, you can also check out some alternatives. Two phones that can offer a big competitive advantage are the Motorola Edge 20 Pro and the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra with a similar budget with more advanced and superior features.

Without the latest firmware and the liberty to put these devices through their paces, these first impressions were all we could take away from the demo session. However, it’s also clear that Samsung’s confident with their latest offerings, given how comprehensive each device is. Water-resistant everything? Foldable phone with S Pen support? A watch that tells you how fat you are? Proper noise cancellation for its true wireless earbuds? We can’t wait to get our hands on the review units.

Lisa Gade covers what’s new (and what isn’t) in Samsung’s 2021 folding phones, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 and Galaxy Z Fold 3. The phones are $200 less than their predecessors, and will be available unlocked as well as from all major carriers (with some strong pre-order incentives). The Z Flip 3 has a significant redesign, with a larger outer display, a 120Hz folding ultra-thin glass 6.7” AMOLED inner display and a new look. The Z Fold 3 gets S Pen support and a stronger inner display. Both have 5G and run Android 11 with One UI 3.1 on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor. We’ll have detailed individual full reviews of both phones in the future.

Traditionally, we would see a new Galaxy Note series by Samsung around this time of the year but that's not the case. If you didn't watch it last night, we got it covered for you. In this article, we are just briefly going to list down the 5 features that we like so far on both the Galaxy Z Fold3 5G and Galaxy Z Flip3 5G. Let's get right into it!

Small and stylish, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 5G is a clamshell-style folding phone with a decent sized cover screen where you can read your messages, set timers or even take photos. While the camera system and battery won't blow you away, everything else seems pretty spot on.

The Z Flip 3 now has more apps that can take advantage of Flex Mode. I'm excited to see how improvements to multitasking work and if the software made the same strides as the hardware. At the end of the day, the Z Flip 3 represents a significant step forward for bringing foldable phones to the mainstream. Samsung seems confident that the Z Flip 3 is a "ready for primetime" mass-market device and one that people can count on like a regular phone. We'll see.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 is probably the best clamshell foldable phone out there right now - not that that says much with the limited competition - though it doesn’t present any major changes to its predecessor. It has a sturdy design and good-looking screen, though the cameras aren’t great and the battery is fairly small. Some slight tweaks and a slightly lower price might win over those who were on the fence about such phones before.

Samsung's Galaxy Z Flip 3 continues to refine the foldable format. This new device brings a few nice upgrades, like a larger front display, improved refresh rate, and sturdier construction, but the biggest improvement is the price, with the base model now starting at $1,000.

Take away the Z Flip 3’s foldable skills and it becomes a bog-standard Samsung phone with little to get excited about. As such, you really do need to appreciate the flip stylings and clever hinge design to make the most of this phone.

Surely, one has to curtail their expectations a bit and not expect wonders, but take the Z Flip 3 for what it is - another crack at establishing a stronger foothold for Samsung on the compact foldable phone scene, which is currently rather sparsely populated. The Z Flip 3 definitely feels like a step in the right direction and a big leap over the preceding generation. Thanks to the introductory starting price of $999, the Galaxy Z Flip 3 has all the potential to become one of the more popular foldable devices going forward. This makes it one of the most affordable foldable devices, which is definitely priced better than its $1,500 predecessor.

Although I wish Samsung had given the Z Flip 3 a better camera system, I ultimately think this is a wise move for Samsung, because it knew that, with no Galaxy Note phone this year, the Z series is the company’s only flagship release for the rest of the year (that we know of, anyway) and at least one of these phones need to broaden its mainstream appeal. The best way to do that is to lower the price. Even outside of the value factor, the Z Flip 3 is a highly stylish phone, with a selection of great looking cases, and a unique form factor. I think this phone will be a hit. We’ll be back with a full review in the coming days so be sure to stay tuned for more in-depth testing and impressions.

Samsung has finally made the cost less than astronomical, finally infused a bit of actual style. So will people who aren’t die-hard nerds, crypto-mining rich kids, ultra-early adopters — and other types most people hope not to sit next to at a dinner party – actually buy one? Honestly? No idea, but the intelligent design touches, the cute factor, and that you can spend the exact same amount on a normal flagship phone give the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip3 the best chance to break through of any bendy phone to date.

Although not a giant leap forward compared to its predecessor, the Z Flip 3 is a much more fluidly designed device, with that front screen now beautifully integrated. It's the best flip phone we've seen to date (sorry Moto Razr) - and with a price tag to tackle 'normal' flagships head-on, it'll certainly turn some minds around, despite a few inevitable compromises that are part and parcel of a foldable device.

In general, this year’s Galaxy Z devices are really only evolutionary upgrades over last year’s options. While the Z Flip 3 has seen what I would call larger differentiation through the larger secondary display and camera rearrangement, the Z Fold 3, beyond the camera island redesign, can also only be really differentiated through the new under-screen inner front camera module.

The other big improvement is the move to the 5nm Snapdragon 888 chipset, which is paired to 8GB of RAM and either 128GB or 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. The rest of the Galaxy Z Flip3 5G is a rehash of the Galaxy Z Flip 5G - a 3,300mAh battery, two 12MP cameras for wide and ultrawide, a 10MP selfie on the inside and a side-mounted fingerprint reader. The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip3 5G starts at €1,049/£949 and will go on sale later this month.

The Z Fold 3 looks and feels like a premium foldable and even based on the short amount of time I spent with the device, it’s definitely a Note-worthy flagship. On the other hand, the Z Flip 3 offers great specs and, more so than ever before, feels like a real flagship with few notable compromises. The 256GB Z Fold 3 costs $2,269 and the 512GB variant costs $2,409 (Phantom Black only). The Z Fold 3 is available in ‘Phantom Silver,’ ‘Phantom Black’ and ‘Phantom Green.’ The 128GB Z Flip 3 is priced at $1,259 and the 256GB variant (Phantom Black only) costs $1,329.99. The Z Flip 3 is available in ‘Cream,’ ‘Green,’ ‘Lavender,’ and ‘Phantom Black.’ Samsung is also launching exclusive colours, including ‘Gray,’ ‘White’ and ‘Pink,’ but it’s currently unclear if they will launch in Canada.
