Reviews for the Nubia RedMagic 6R
The RedMagic 6R is nominally a powerful gaming smartphone with Snapdragon 888, 144 Hz AMOLED display and shoulder buttons. High-end equipment rounds off the total package for less than 500 Euros (~$588). Sounds like a bargain, but it is not only the cooling that causes problems in the test.

The Nubia Redmagic 6R is a rarity among gaming phones, in that it’s been designed with at least some thought given to how you might want to use the phone when you’re not popping off headshots. It’s borderline pleasant to wield and carry around as a normal phone, with a compact body and a relatively sober design. Thankfully, though, it still comes up with the goods when it’s time to game, with a level of performance that well exceeds the phone’s price tag. Unfortunately, the phone ends up falling between two stools. Elements like a shiny selfie camera and a lack of stereo speakers will gall gamers, while non or casual gamers will find the phone’s terrible camera system and rubbish battery life to be instant red flags. It’s still a contender for a certain type of occasional gamer simply thanks to that combination of top-level performance and lower mid-range price, but the Nubia Redmagic 6R isn’t quite the consummate all-rounder we hoped it might be.

The RedMagic 6R has the distinction of being the most affordable phone in North America to feature Qualcomm's Snapdragon 888 chipset. The device delivers outstanding gaming performance and doesn't throttle under sustained load. The gaming triggers are also a nifty addition, and the 144Hz AMOLED panel is a delight to use. That said, the cameras aren't great, and the phone misses out in several critical areas, making it a poor choice in this category.

The phone is 5G capable and weighs in at 186 grams, which is reasonable for a gaming phone of this calibre. The main body of the device is 6.42-inches in length, 2.96-inches in width and 0.31-inches in height. Further, the phone supports dual sim, though it doesn’t have an additional memory card slot. The phone is available in ‘128GB storage, 6GB RAM,’ ‘128GB storage, 8GB RAM,’ ‘128GB storage, 12GB RAM’ and ‘256GB storage, 12GB RAM’ variants. It features a dual-LED flash setup, supports HDR, Panorama and can record 8K video at 30 frames per second. While the Nubia RedMagic 6R certainly has its issues, if focused primarily on the device’s gaming capabilities, it will likely impress you. And considering the pocket-friendly price tag of $499, it’s safe to say that the 6R is more than capable of being used as a regular day-to-day device with minor hiccups and compromises.

Only a few smartphones have larger screens.
Large display-sizes allow higher resolutions. So, details like letters are bigger. On the other hand, the power consumption is lower with small screen diagonals and the devices are smaller, more lightweight and cheaper.
