Samsung has launched its latest M-series smartphone, the Galaxy M36 5G, in India. A direct successor to last summer’s Galaxy M35 5G comes with a modern design. However, specs-wise, the device isn’t much different from the last-generation model. More specifically, the back of the smartphone has seen a major change. The triple rear camera setup now has a pill-shaped module.
There’s no major upgrade in the performance department. The Galaxy M36 5G retains the same in-house Exynos 1380 chipset from the predecessor. The chipset is paired with 6/8 GB of RAM and 128/256 GB of storage, which is further expandable via microSD card. As far as the software is concerned, the device runs on Android 15-based One UI 7 out of the box, and Samsung promises six major Android updates (Android 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, & 21).
This time around, Samsung has significantly reduced the battery capacity of the smartphone. It features a 5,000 mAh battery (down from 6,000 mAh of the M35 5G) with support for 25 W wired charging. Furthermore, the Galaxy M36 5G has a triple rear camera setup, consisting of a 50 MP primary camera, an 8 MP ultrawide lens, and a 2 MP macro shooter. Upfront, you’ll find a 13 MP camera for selfies and video chats.
The 5G-enabled smartphone sports a 6.7-inch AMOLED FHD+ display that delivers a refresh rate of 120 Hz. Available in orange haze, velvet black, and serene green color options, the Samsung Galaxy M36 5G starts at INR 22,999 ($269) for the base 6 GB + 128 GB model. However, as a part of the launch offer, Samsung is offering the phone at a discounted price of INR 16,499 ($193). The device will go on sale from 12th July via Samsung’s official website and Amazon.
