We have already reported on the Unihertz Titan 2, and now the smartphone has become available as part of a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter. Backers can reserve a unit in return for a pledge of roughly $270, deliveries are scheduled to start in October. As usual, buyers should carefully review the shipping conditions beforehand, and should also note that they could theoretically lose their money if the phone never makes it to market. That said, Unihertz is an established company, so the risk should be comparatively low in this case.
Either way, the Titan 2 is equipped with a physical keyboard, which is a very unusual feature for smartphones these days. The phone is somewhat reminiscent of classic BlackBerry devices, but it sports modern components. For instance, it sports the 5G-capable MediaTek Dimensity 7300 SoC with 12GB RAM, and 512GB of UFS 3.1 storage. Moreover, it measures 3.5 x 5.4 x 0.4 inches and weighs 8.3 oz. The main 4.5-inch display has a resolution of 1440 x 1440 pixels, while the small display on the back can show a clock, among other things.
A non-removable 5,050mAh battery is built-in. In terms of cameras, the main sensor has a 50 megapixels, and the second telephoto camera offers 3.4x zoom. Other features include a fingerprint sensor, an electronic compass and NFC. An IR blaster is onboard as well and can be used to control other devices. The new Unihertz smartphone also supports dual SIM and has two customizable buttons. More importantly, the physical keyboard supports text input but also gestures like scrolling. Lastly, the Titan 2 is also expected to become available with other keyboard layouts, aside from the usual QWERTY layout.
