Rumors of a direct Samsung Galaxy A04 successor may have just been augmented by a new addition to the Geekbench 6 database. The alleged 4G/LTE-only handset may be destined for next year's Android smartphone market, yet still has specs one might barely expect to persist in a 2024 mobile device, regardless of how cheap.

The Galaxy A04 4G was one of the cheapest Samsung smartphone of 2023 and certainly looked the part, sporting just 2 rear camera rings where most of its siblings got 3, along with a display with a noticeable chin and without a punch-hole selfie camera. Now, it looks like its A05 successor might not get all that much benefit out of being a newer handset.

Its last leak painted it as a budget handset that would still be on some form of One UI 5 at its launch, despite its 2023/24 model number of SM-A055x. Now, the same identifier has surfaced in a new Geekbench leak, seemingly confirming that the device does run on Android 13.

It also has just 4GB of RAM to go with it - although this hints that the 3GB base model of the A04 will finally be outmoded in 2024. Then again, it seems the "SM-A055F" might owe its outdated Wi-Fi standard to the Helio G85 SoC (or "MT6769V/CZ", as detected by Geekbench).

While not exactly the newest silicon around, it might prove an upgrade over the Helio P35 of the A04 in any case.
