The Samsung Galaxy A24 5G has failed to emerge alongside its 4G/LTE counterpart in 2023 thus far. Despite that, it apparently has a successor lurking around on Geekbench already. Its model number definitely indicates membership of the upcoming A25 series, although its specs are those of a current mid-range smartphone - except for the upgrade to Android 14, of course.

The Samsung Galaxy A24 5G is thought to make it to a launch fairly soon - however, according to a new leak, there may be little enough point to that as the A25 5G is also apparently on the way. It is thought to become a (technically) next-gen device due to the new model number discovered on Geekbench.

The identifier "samsung SM-A256B" does indeed differ from those of Samsung's current crop of mid-range Android smartphones. Nevertheless, the "A25 5G" does apparently match some of them, with a chipset thought to be the Exynos 1280 (due to its 6 2GHz core plus 2 2.4GHz core layout) paired to 8GB of RAM.

Then again, Geekbench specifies Android 14 as the ROM for this alleged Galaxy Ax5 series member, thereby hinting that it will either leapfrog the A24 5G as a new, relatively affordable device that might have S24-like newer software (in lieu of upgrades in any other area) as a USP, or will be held back in terms of availability until the start of 2024 at the earliest.
