Robert Hallock left AMD in September 2022, after spending over a decade with the company and being involved in marketing processors and GPUs. Now, he is returning to the tech industry by joining Intel, where he will focus on AI for consumer processors as the company's Senior Director of Technical Marketing.

Those who never heard of him should know that Robert Hallock spent over a decade with AMD, where he held the position of Director of Technical Marketing. For a long time, he was involved with the AMD fans on Reddit, Discord, YouTube, but he also held various press briefings. Now, he is moving to Intel, where he will hold the same position.

When he was with AMD, Robert Hallock was focused on both processors and graphics adapters. At Intel, his efforts will focus on artificial intelligence in consumer processors. Intel's new Senior Director of Technical Marketing wrote in today's LinkedIn post on his professional move that "The PC is never boring, of course, but AI sure seems like an unusually unique moment. It's not often an all-new category of accelerator shows up, after all."

Hallock joins Intel in time for next month's Innovation event, which is scheduled for September 19. Obviously, he is expected to show up and discuss about the chip maker's future plans, which include integrating AI capabilities into the upcoming Meteor Lake Core Ultra family. These upcoming chips will feature a dedicated VPU and are expected to level up the playing field, as the Ryzen family already features AI acceleration capabilities.
