Following the EU energy label leak for the Galaxy Z Fold7 hinting at its IP rating, the same information has been leaked for the Galaxy Z Flip7 and the cheaper Z Flip7 FE. Just like the Fold, the Flip series of foldables is also not getting any upgrade in terms of durability and resistance against the elements. Samsung is schedule to unveil its new foldables on July 9 at its Unpacked event so an official confirmation is just around the corner.
According to a report by Ytechb, the European Product Registry for Energy Labelling (EPREL) listing for the Galaxy Z Flip7 and Z Flip7 FE show an IP48 dust and water resistance. This is the same IP rating as the previous generation Galaxy Z Flip6 (Buy on Amazon). The Z Flip7 FE, on the other hand, will be the first Fan Edition phone in the foldable lineup so it’s good that the more budget option is also starting with an IP48 rating. For comparison, the Moto Razr 2025 series also carries an IP48 rating.
The Ytechb report also reaffirms the battery expectations for all three foldables. The Galaxy Z Fold7 is said to carry a 4,400 mAh battery, which is the same as the Galaxy Z Fold6. The Galaxy Z Flip7 is said to come with a 4,300 mAh battery (4,174 mAh rated capacity), a slight upgrade from the Galaxy Z Flip6. The Galaxy Z Flip7 FE will have an even smaller battery at 4,000 mAh (3,887 mAh rated capacity).
The recent live-image leak for the Galaxy Z Fold7 showed a visibly slimmer foldable compared to the current generation. Leaks have claimed that it would be 4.2 mm when unfolded and 8.9 mm when folded. So even though Samsung has not upgraded the battery capacity, it has made the phone slimmer without sacrificing battery size.
Notably, these are not officially confirmed specifications but the reveal is less than a week away, so we’ll know soon what the next generation of foldables has to offer.
