A few days have now passed since Xiaomi officially unveiled the Redmi Pad 2 following a spate of detailed leaks. While the tablet is not reaching India until June 18, it can already be ordered across the Eurozone and the UK with and without 4G connectivity.
As expected, the Redmi Pad 2 represents the first run out for MediaTek's Helio G100 Ultra chipset. However, the specifications that Xiaomi mentions are identical to the existing Helio G100, such as a Mali-G57 MP2 GPU, twin ARM Cortex-A76 CPU cores running at 2.2 GHz and six Cortex-A55 CPU cores restricted to 2 GHz. Thus, it is unclear how the Helio G100 Ultra differs from the Helio G100 at this stage.
Regardless, Xiaomi also installs an 11-inch IPS dispaly that resolves at 2,560 x 1,600 pixels with a 16:10 aspect ratio, 274 PPI pixel density and 600 nits peak brightnes. Also a 90 Hz panel, the display is only slightly smaller than the one found in the Xiaomi Pad 7 (curr. $399 on Amazon). With that being said, a 16:10 aspect ratio makes the Redmi Pad 2 taller but narrower than the Pad 7 at 254.58 x 166.04 mm.
Currently, the Redmi Pad 2 can be picked up for as little as €199 in the Eurozone with Wi-Fi connectivity in Mint Green and Graphite Grey colourways. While these SKUs come with 4 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage, Xiaomi also sells 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage options for a slight surcharge. Alternatively, 4G cellular options start at €249 before factoring in launch discounts. Meanwhile, the Redmi Pad 2 starts at £169 in the UK or £219 for its 4G variant.
