Redmi K90 Pro Max to bring powerful 2.1 audio with Bose subwoofer

Xiaomi is preparing to announce its new line of powerful sub-flagship phones: the Redmi K90 series, launching in China next week on October 23. But the real story isn't just about speed; it's about sound. The top-tier Redmi K90 Pro Max will debut with a unique 2.1-channel sound system that includes an extra speaker functioning as a subwoofer.

This is a major hardware push for smartphone audio. Reliable source Digital Chat Station confirmed the 2.1 setup on Weibo. There will be a dedicated speaker—positioned on the rear and featuring the Bose logo—working as a subwoofer, handling the low-frequency workload. This setup will allow the phone to deliver true bass. Unlike the flat, thin sound from conventional stereo speakers, the K90 Pro Max should produce richer, deeper audio, dramatically upgrading the experience for gaming, movies, and music.

Xiaomi's earlier promotional images of the K90 Pro Max showcased this distinctive circular speaker near the camera module. At the time, it left people wondering if Redmi was simply relocating a speaker or adding a new component. Fortunately, we are talking about a third speaker for a full 2.1 system, giving the Redmi K90 Pro Max a unique selling point that will make it stand out in the competitive high-performance phone market.

Naturally, the K90 Pro Max is set to be a powerhouse inside, too. Reports suggest it will be equipped with the new Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip, whose raw performance is comparable to that of the Snapdragon 8 Elite from current flagships. While chip and audio are the headlines, a capable rear camera setup is also expected to round out the device's package.

Currently, we only know that the Redmi K90 Pro Max model will boast a third speaker for a 2.1 sound system. The company hasn't yet released images of the standard and Pro K90 models to determine if the Bose-powered component is also present. That said, let's hope that at least the "Pro" variant equips it, since it's poised to arrive in the global market later under the "Poco F8 Ultra" moniker.
