The Razer Huntsman V3 Pro keyboards offer essential features for competitive gaming, including analogue optical key switches with rapid-trigger functionality and individually assignable trigger points. A free firmware update for the Huntsman keyboards (V3 Pro in full-size, TKL and 60% versions) now offers Snap Tap Mode. This feature prioritises the last two keys pressed without having to release the first key pressed.
Competitive gamers, where milliseconds can decide the outcome of a match, will find that Snap Tap Mode allows them to control their movements more fluidly and quickly. In games such as Counter-Strike 2 or Valorant, shots become less accurate as you move, so it is important to stand still when shooting. Professional players use counter-strafing, which is an evolution of normal side-to-side movement (strafing).
For example, when counter-strafing, the D button is used to move to the right from cover and then the A button is used to move to the left. Razer's new Snap Tap Mode is designed to help with this interplay between cover and accurate shots, as competitive players no longer have to lift their fingers between button presses. This allows for instant directional changes that save milliseconds and can sometimes be the difference in a game.
The free firmware update for the Huntsman V3 Pro keyboards (buy the Huntsman V3 Pro TKL on Amazon) with the new Snap Tap mode will be rolled out gradually via the Razer Synapse software, which must be the latest version to receive the update. Razer also offers a separate firmware update tool for Windows, which can be downloaded from a Razer support page.
