RPCS3 is arguably the best PS3 emulator on the planet. It can play a vast majority of PS3 games on Windows, Linux, macOS, and FreeBSD. So, it is only natural that gamers would want more emulators from the team behind RPCS3. The official RPCS3 account on X has now commented on the issue.

It is no secret that making RPCS3 what it is today took an incredible amount of effort. The project was started by DH and Hykem all the way back in 2011. It took 15 years of constant effort and countless hours of work to make RPCS3 the best PS3 emulator in the world. Today, you can use RPCS3 to emulate almost all PS3 games with good performance on Windows, Linux, macOS, and FreeBSD.

Seeing the success of RPCS3, it is natural for many gamers to want the team to not only bring RPCS3 to Android/iOS but also develop more emulators. Unfortunately, the team behind RPCS3 has no intention of ever doing either of these two things.

Responding to a user requesting “RPCS2 for iOS”, the official RPCS3 X account cautions that there is no RPCS2 and users should be careful about installing malware on their PCs. More interestingly, the RPCS3 team has “no plans to develop other emulators besides RPCS3.”

Furthermore, some fans might be disappointed to know that the RPCS3 team has “no interest in supporting phones”. While smartphones may be too underpowered to run RPCS3, we suspect the major issue is the amount of work it would take to bring the software over to Android and iOS.

So, while you can emulate a plethora of consoles on your Android phone, including running Steam games through tools like Game Hub, the dream of playing PS3 games on your smartphone will have to wait.

In the meantime, if you want to enjoy the best PS3 emulation experience, RPCS3 recommends CachyOS, a Linux-based operating system.
