Samsung to release two wide foldables in 2027 for five Galaxy Z Fold/Flip models

Samsung anticipated the direction Apple’s upcoming debut foldable iPhone would take and released its first wide aspect ratio Galaxy Z Fold8 in July. The move seems to have worked, as the Galaxy Z Fold8 has reportedly sold very well. This seems to have inspired Samsung to capitalize on the market’s love for a wide foldable and prepare not one but two wide Galaxy Z Fold smartphones for 2027.
The report comes to us courtesy of ETNews (via Ice Universe on X). The report claims that Samsung is preparing five new foldable Galaxy Z models for 2027. This alleged list includes:
- The wide Galaxy Z Fold9
- A separate wide-screen Galaxy Z Fold9 model
- The Galaxy Z Fold9 Ultra with a tall screen
- The Galaxy Z TriFold2, a successor to 2025’s Galaxy Z TriFold
- The Galaxy Z Flip9
Interestingly, Samsung seems to have found confidence in the Galaxy Z TriFold after a limited launch that saw the phone discontinued after three months. We can assume that Samsung will iron out the kinks of the first-gen Galaxy Z TriFold and make the Galaxy Z TriFold2 more portable and, hopefully, a bit cheaper.
For the second wide Galaxy Z Fold model, it is reasonable to expect that Samsung could look at making a cheaper version. The current Galaxy Z Fold8 starts at a pretty high $1,899.99. So, Samsung could offer the wide fold in two different flavors that might come at different price points.
Since we are in the early days of the Galaxy Z Fold8, Z Fold8 Ultra, and Z Flip8, details pertaining to Samsung’s 2027 foldable are still pretty thin. Until we get our hands on more juicy leaks, check out our coverage of the foldable Apple iPhone and the upcoming Galaxy S27 series.
