Batman: Arkham Origins multiplayer returns on Android as PS3 emulator gains major update

The multiplayer component of Batman: Arkham Origins is accessible through an Android PlayStation 3 emulator following the release of ARMSX3 1.4 on 25 October 2026. According to the developer, ARMSX3 1.4 automatically configures Batman: Arkham Origins to connect to the community-operated Arkham: Revived servers, allowing players to join multiplayer matches through RPCN.
The development follows the retirement of the game's official online services on 4 December 2016, as confirmed by Warner Bros. on Steam. Rather than restoring the original PlayStation Network service, ARMSX3 uses RPCN, an alternative network service for PS3 emulation.
According to the developer's release notes, the integration supports quick matches, friend invitations and joining private lobbies. Players can switch away from ARMSX3 while in a lobby, with a notification indicating that the connection is being maintained. If the connection drops, the emulator attempts to reconnect automatically.
An optional patch allows private matches to begin with fewer than the usual three players. Only the host needs to enable it, and public matchmaking remains unaffected.
There are restrictions, however. Players need Batman: Arkham Origins updated to version 1.06, an RPCN account and the appropriate network settings. The developer specifies that multiplayer is limited to other ARMSX3 users connected through RPCN. Original PS3 consoles and the PC Steam version cannot join these sessions.
Virtual toy portals and microphone support arrive
The update goes beyond Batman. ARMSX3 1.4 introduces virtual toy portals for Skylanders, Disney Infinity and LEGO Dimensions, allowing compatible games to interact with simulated figures through the emulator's interface.
Players can import figure files or create supported virtual figures by name. The developer notes an exception for Skylanders Imaginators Senseis, which require files from the corresponding physical toys. Multiple figures can occupy their respective virtual portals, including up to eight figures and magic items on the simulated Skylanders Portal of Power.
Microphone support has also been added for games including SingStar, Rock Band and Guitar Hero. The emulator can use an Android device's built-in microphone or a connected USB microphone, with additional options for two-player SingStar setups and compatible Rocksmith guitar cables.
The release includes game-specific fixes for Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure, which previously froze after placing a figure, and J-Stars Victory VS+, which receives fixes for battle visuals and special attacks.
ARMSX3 is an unofficial Android port of the RPCS3 PlayStation 3 emulator. Its developers have documented the new functionality, although performance and compatibility will still depend on the Android device and individual game. The release notes do not establish that all supported games run smoothly.
For Batman: Arkham Origins, the significance is therefore not a return of the original online infrastructure, but another way to access a multiplayer mode that lost its official support almost ten years ago.
