While the RPCS3 team initially hinted that the mobile port of the PS3 emulator might not happen anytime soon, one developer behind the project eventually brought it to Android. Of course, at the introduction, this mobile port was in a very early stage, but just recently, it has received a major update.
On the latest alpha version, the RPCS3-Android brings a ton of new additions and tweaks. One of the major new features is the settings menu, which is a big addition to the previous alpha releases. Now, users won't need to dig deep into text files to make tweaks on the emulation.
As for what you can do in the new settings menu, you get the ability to tweak pretty much everything about the emulation. That includes the rendering resolution and graphics renderer. Speaking of which, the latest version of the PS3 emulator makes it easy to switch between custom GPU drivers. So, for example, Snapdragon-powered gaming devices or phones can easily shift to Turnip, which can eventually offer a slightly better performance.
There are many other changes on the RPCS3-Android alpha 5.1 and alpha 5.0, but the Android PS3 emulator has yet to receive support for Bluetooth controllers (USB-C Razer Kishi mobile controller curr. $41.70 on Amazon). However, given how frequently the founder, DH, is pushing updates for this project, there's a high chance that the mobile port will reach its stable state sooner rather than later.
For those interested in trying out this Android PS3 emulator, both alpha 5.0 and alpha 5.1 are available on DH's GitHub. DH has also provided the change notes for each of them, highlighting the new additions and other notable improvements brought through each version.
