ROG Tessen tipped to launch as new gamepad companion for next-gen flagship Asus gaming smartphones
Asus will allegedly re-imagine its non-Zenfone Android smartphone design in 2024 - now, the OEM is also tipped to do the same with its mobile gaming accessories. The Tessen is thought to land as a new optional purchase alongside the latest ROG Phones, as with RedMagic's Shadow Blade 2 to its 9 Pro.
Then again, WindowsReport purports to present the new gadget as an ideal companion to any Android smartphone, with its expandable design that might add a bit of ROG flair (and Aura RGB) to any mobile gaming experience. The Tessen is thought to supplant the Kunai series in that regard, although it is depicted as going beyond its predecessors with a new design that might be foldable.
Apart from possibly being more portable, that function might also exist to make FPS apps more realistic, which would also explain the rear-mounted triggers the accessory seems to have in its new renders. It is also portrayed as sporting all the D-pads, buttons (a branded ROG one included) and (reportedly ALPS) joysticks one might expect. Then again, there is no mention of a wireless mode or, ironically, wired audio.
The Tessen is projected to become available in 2024 alongside the 8 and 8 Pro for $139 to $159.
