A new free game giveaway has hit Steam and GOG, but only for 48 hours. As usual for gaming giveaways, one must have an active account before being able to redeem the game. However, it should remain in your Steam and or GOG game library indefinitely thereafter.
As the video below suggests, the game in question is Metro 2033 Redux, which debuted on PC in 2024 before reaching consoles and finally the Nintendo Switch in 2020 (curr. $25.91 on Amazon). Based on Dmitry Glukhovsky's novel of the same name, 4A Games and Deep Silver have discounted Metro 2033 Redux to celebrate the original game's 15th anniversary, which passed in March.
For reference, Metro 2033 Redux brings the gameplay features and improvements from the later Metro: Last Light to Metro 2033, such as superior animations and AI. 4A Games stresses that Metro 2033 Redux is a rebuild of Metro 2033 rather than a 'mere HD port'. Gamers and critics alike agree, with Metro 2033 Redux having received a Very Positive rating from over 90,000 reviews on Steam. Similarly, the game averages 85/100 and 90/100 on OpenCritic and Metacritic, respectively.
According to 4A Games, Metro 2033 Redux requires 10 GB of storage and should be capable of running on a machine with 4 GB of RAM. The developer also recommends a DirectX 11-compliant GPU like the Nvidia GeForce GTX 480, plus any dual-core or quad-core CPU that can reach 3.0 GHz. Please note that you must have added Metro 2033 Redux to your Steam and or GOG library by 16:00 UTC on April 16. Please see Steam and GOG's store listing for more details.
