Pokémon Black 3 and White 3 could be in the pipeline
Pokémon fans have been poring over some new leaks and riddles lately that have come courtesy of the leak Twitter account @CentroLeaks and the noted Pokémon riddle account @Riddler_Khu (with riddle deduction help coming from @soulsilverart). The general consensus appears to be that Game Freak might be working on a title based in the Unova region, which hints at something to do with Pokémon Black and White, where that particular region was introduced. If the rumored game is to be a sequel, then it could end up being Pokémon Black 3 and White 3.
Understandably, there is considerable discussion already out there mostly based on the speculation that this 2024 title is set in Unova and may feature Gen 5 Pokémon. Some believe it means a sequel or even a remake is being worked on, others have opined that there could be a new Pokémon Legends game being prepared (in a similar fashion that Pokémon Legends: Arceus from 2022 is a prequel to 2006’s Pokémon Diamond and Pearl), and there are even hopes that there could be new Pokémon Black and White games and a new Legends title.
With the original Pokémon Black and White coming out in 2010, after Diamond and Pearl, then it would make sense to set a new Legends title, if one is coming, in the region of Unova. It appears the chief hints to Black and White come from images posted that included the Black City and White Forest of Unova, among other things, and a follower poll suggesting Gen 5 Pokémon were involved. The potential for either a remake or Pokémon Black 3 and White 3 coming mostly rests on Game Freak’s habits - the developer has rotated between working on remakes and new-generation titles in the past, with the ninth-generation Pokémon Scarlet and Violet (2022) being the last major non-DLC release.
