Tesla just announced that it has manufactured its inaugural production Cybertruck model at the Gigafactory in Texas, and footage, as well as pictures of its gigacast parts have emerged to fill in some specs and design blanks. The first Cybertruck coming off the conveyor belts at Giga Texas has been caught strutting its stuff down the assembly line store ramp and taking a right turn to expose the rear wheel steering that the production Cybertruck comes standard with.
The Cybertruck video also shows that the giant windshield single wiper is here to stay for Tesla's electric pickup launch, and showcases the edgy triangular rear view and side mirrors that can potentially be removed, as well as the rear and front light bars. It can't really be seen if the production Cybertruck comes with the front HW4 bumper camera that Tesla will seemingly be equipping the Model 3 Highland redesign with as well, but there should be more close-up photos soon enough.
On the other hand, the Cybertruck assembly line at the Gigafactory in Texas seems to be brimming with the electric pickup's steel frames done pressed by Tesla's time- and money-saving gigacasting method that other automakers like Toyota are increasingly adopting, too. Close-up shots of one of these gigacast Cybertruck components reveal a few additional details about Tesla's upcoming truck with stainless steel body.
First off, the offset firewall placement seems to indicate that the first Cybertruck batches will be left-hand drive only, which is explicable as those are meant predominantly for the North American market. There might be right-hand drive Cybertrucks at some point, though seeing how Tesla did with the RHD Model S or Model X, there wouldn't be many bets on a RHD Cybertruck model hitting the market any time soon.
There are also no less than three child seat safety hook visible in the Cybertruck's castings, as well as two big holes in the back where the transition from the cabin to the truck bed is. These could potentially be for joint ventilation and equalizing of pressure, or air conditioning that passes through the cabin to the truck bed as some other trucks can be retrofitted for.
In any case, expect much more production Cybertruck tests and pictures in the coming weeks, as Tesla ramps up manufacturing for the big launch event that Elon Musk mentioned they'll try to schedule for this quarter which ends in September.
