Monstrous Cybertruck single wiper only misses a small spot in windshield spray test
Tesla will evidently keep the huge single windshield wiper blade for the final retail version of its Cybertruck electric pickup as the latest pre-release vehicles caught on tape all have it. Another tangential evidence now comes in the form of a drone video recorded over the Gigafactory in Texas where the first Cybertruck batches will be assembled in June.
In it, among revelations that the new US$260 million battery cathode unit is under construction, or that another solar roof over the Supercharger station is almost there, is a live Cybertruck wiper spray test. The Cybertruck is raised on a platform against what looks like a small wind tunnel of sorts. A Tesla employee sits next to the electric pickup with a bottle and intermittently sprays the windshield to activate the wiper.
The Cybertruck's single wiper monstrosity then gets moving, cleaning a large part of the windshield area in one fell swoop. Since it is bolted onto the left side, the whole space in front of the driver gets wiped clean as well as nearly all of the passenger section. There is one patch at the top right corner when looked at from the inside that can't be reached, but it is rather small compared to where the single wiper does go to.
The shiny stainless steel body of the Cybertruck can be seen glistening in the Texas sun as well, plus a cool bird's eye view of the open flatbed and panoramic roof of Tesla's first electric pickup truck. Unfortunately, all that jazz won't go to many people this year, as there are now more than 1.8 million preorder reservations for the Cybertruck, yet Tesla will truly ramp its production up only in 2024.
