Cybertruck copycat CyberPickup concept outdoes Tesla with 6 wheels and Frankentruck design
In a tried and true tradition, Tesla's Cybertruck naming scheme has been copied rather shamelessly in a new CyberPickup concept monstrosity by a Great Wall Motors collab with Cannon. China's largest manufacturer of pickups has taken design inspiration from seemingly every popular truck model out there only to arrive at a copycat name of Tesla's Cybertruck and piggyback on its celebrity status.
There is a RAM 1500 barn-style gate at the back, an electric Silverado interior inspiration, and a Toyota Tundra whiff at the front. Cannon did add one unique feature that makes the CyberPickup (written CyberP!ckup) unique among its peers, a 6x6 offroad capability.
The fully electric version of GWM's concoction would have five differential locks with a motor at each wheel on the back, and a single one up front. Despite its electrifying name, the CyberPickup may also ship with a hybrid drivetrain aided by a 3-liter gas-powered turbo engine.
The hulking monstrosity was shown in a 5-seater version at the Shanghai auto show with a luxurious interior centered around a giant central console display. Australian media is reporting that the CyberPickup is heading for production in both 6x6 and 4x4 variants, though it is not clear which drivetrain will end up destined for Down Under.
