Ayaneo has finally revealed more details about its next retro gaming handheld. Announced in July, the Pocket Vert is the company's second vertical gaming handheld after the Pocket DMG that debuted last year. By extension, the Pocket Vert will rival the Retroid Pocket Classic (curr. $134 on Amazon).
However, Ayaneo has now clarified that the Pocket Vert will provide a more premium experience than either of those two handhelds. On the one hand, the company has reiterated that the Pocket Vert contains a 3.5-inch IPS display with a 615 PPI thanks to its 1,600 x 1,440 native resolution. By the sounds of it, Ayaneo is sourcing the same panel already found in the Analogue Pocket, or a comparable panel at the very least.
On the other hand, the Pocket Vert features a CNC aluminium housing like the Anbernic RG477M before it. Incidentally, Analogue offered Aluminium Editions of the Pocket last year, which more than doubled the handheld's price to $499.99. The inclusion of diamond-cut shoulder buttons suggests that the Pocket Vert will be a pricey affair.
Based on the video below, the Pocket Vert looks an awful lot like the Analogue Pocket, too. Unfortunately, pricing and availability remain unknown for now. Likewise, Ayaneo has not indicated what chipset underpins the Pocket Vert. The suggestion that the device can emulate Game Boy games at a 10x resolution implies that the Pocket Vert will be more powerful than the MediaTek Helio G99-backed Pocket Micro or Pocket Micro Classic.
