Not long ago we reported about some patent drawings and a blurry image that were purportedly of the consumer market variant of the PlayStation 5. Many images of the PS5 devkit have already leaked online, and it was generally accepted that the consumer version of the next-gen console would be much different to the V-shaped devkit. If these new renders end up being accurate, it will be a whole letter shape of difference.
The V-shaped PS5 devkit has been replaced by an X-shaped PS5 home console. These particular images by FalconDesign3D are specifically based on the 4channel leaks, and they give a clearer depiction of what this version of the games device could look like. When standing upright, this concept PS5 does give off a positive impression, but as soon as it is depicted from a horizontal viewpoint it just looks clumsy and ungainly.
Of course, others have put their hand into creating their own version of what the PS5 consumer edition will look like. There is an example (see images below) that looks much sleeker and more dynamic in comparison to the X-shaped console, with a DualShock 5 controller resting on top of it to show just how compact this particular rendered version of the PS5 is.
The idea that Sony will soon reveal the final design of the PS5 in February is starting to gain traction, with God of War creator David Jaffe already tweeting on January 16 that the PS5 reveal was “less than 4 weeks away”. With the amount of money Sony will have pumped into the console’s development, it seems unlikely it will disappoint.
