Now would be the ideal time to check your stocks of salt as you will be pinching it and throwing it around in reaction to this latest slice of PlayStation 5 rumor-related news. CCN (via 4channel) has published a couple of suspect patent designs that may or may not show what the actual consumer variant of the PS5 will actually look like. Unsurprisingly, they look nothing like the leaked images of the next-gen console devkit, but that’s to be expected.
The overall design of the PS5 in the possibly fake patent drawings is more relatable to something Microsoft would produce with the Xbox series, rather than Sony’s vaunted 2020 offering into the console industry. The bottom section of the device appears to have top-left and bottom-right corners that jut out from underneath the top section of the PS5, while the reverse is true for the top section. Perhaps the drawings do it no justice, but it looks somewhat clumsy and awkward.
The blurry image (see below) of a supposed real-world PlayStation 5 consumer model console definitely warrants a fresh shipment of salt. There are plenty of rumors going round that Sony is preparing to reveal the PS5 within the next few weeks, so there must be some prototype consumer models out there. The picture appears to corroborate the design of the patent drawings though, with some commenting how similar it is to the Xbox 360 Slim.
