Sony has still to officially present the PlayStation 5 next-gen console to the world. In the meantime, there have been plenty of concept renders made for the PS5, with two more turning up recently that offer a fresh perspective at what the console could look like. There is a growing belief that the coronavirus pandemic may be contributing to Sony’s continued silence.
Daniel R Deakin,

Two more fan-made concept renders of the PlayStation 5 have been shared online that are strikingly different to the general idea of what the next-gen console’s final design could look like. The first one is by a redditor called DillHD. This particular PS5 concept (see below for images) has the disc drive located in the corner, and it has been praised for its simple design and clean overall look. Unfortunately, connectivity looks limited to just two USB Type-A ports.

The second PS5 concept render has a much more outlandish look in comparison to the more subtle effort mentioned above. A hexagonal form has been chosen for this console, with the disc drive consisting of a slot in one of the sides. The hexagonal PS5 can be handily positioned vertically or horizontally but seems to be completely free of any kind of hardware buttons or I/O ports. But at least it appears to have a rudimentary cooling solution provided by a large mesh air vent.

Sony has yet to announce when the official PS5 reveal date is, and there has been some speculation of late that the company is overtly aware of the calamitous effects of the coronavirus outbreak, which may have created an unexpected hurdle for a PS5 launch event. Whether this is due to not being able to hold a flashy show with a large crowd in attendance or simply because the timing could be now deemed inopportune is not clear. However, Microsoft has gone ahead and revealed the Xbox Series X details, so perhaps Sony will follow suit soon.
