PeakDo teases new Starlink Mini power bank with a semi-solid-state battery

It has only been a month sine PeakDo launched a new power bank for the Starlink Mini. It has now begun teasing a new product, and it seems the main upgrade it has over its previous products is the battery technology.

According to a teaser video shared on YouTube, the new battery pack for the Starlink Mini will have a 99.9Wh battery capacity, which is the same capacity as that of the LinkPower 1, LinkPower 2 (available on Amazon for $229), LinkPower 3, and the cylindrical-shaped LinkPower Pod 1.

However, this new power bank will feature a semi-solid-state battery which has a handful of advantages over lithium-ion batteries. For starters, a semi-solid-state battery has a higher energy density, which means that it can store more power without taking up as much space as a lithium-ion battery.

The higher energy density also means that a semi-solid-state battery will be lighter and smaller when compared to a lithium-ion battery of equal capacity. Another advantage is that semi-solid-state batteries are safer as there's a reduced risk of leakage and short-circuiting if the battery gets damaged.

All of the advantages above were also mentioned in PeakDo's teaser video. However, semi-solid-state batteries are more expensive than their lithium-ion equivalent as it is a newer technology that is more expensive to manufacture.

This means that when PeakDo's new product arrives, it is expected to cost more than its other Starlink Mini batteries. Unfortunately, no release date for the new product has been announced.
