Oukitel C50: 5G smartphone advertised with 24 GB of RAM and dual SIM card support
The Oukitel C50 is now available at a currently discounted price of $199.99, down from the normal price of $269.99. Shipping is free as long as standard shipping is selected, which means that customers will have to wait 7-15 business days for delivery. This can be upgraded to expedited shipping for a small fee.
The smartphone is advertised as having 24 GB of RAM. However, the physical RAM is only 8 GB - the difference to the advertised size is due to a kind of swap file, but this cannot really be compared to physical RAM. At 128 GB, the internal storage is not particularly generous, but this is not necessarily a problem in everyday use. Android 14 is used as the operating system, so customers should not expect major updates.
The SoC installed is the MediaTek Dimensity 6100+, a chip with four Cortex-A76 and four Cortex-A55 cores that was introduced in March 2023. The screen has a resolution of 720 x 1,600, which is not particularly high, while the refresh rate is slightly higher at 90 Hz. The same applies to the brightness of 400 cd/m², at least in comparison to cheaper smartphones.
The 9.15 millimeter thick and 208 gram smartphone has a 50 MP main camera on the back. The front camera has a resolution of 5 MP. Operation with two SIM cards is only possible if users forgo storage expansion, which may be a limitation for some in view of the relatively small internal storage. A fingerprint sensor is available. NFC is not on board.
A possible alternative: Buy the Motorola Moto G Power 5G at Amazon.
