Oppo launches new phone in India with 144Hz display and an 8,000mAh battery

Oppo has launched the K14 Plus in India, placing an 8,000mAh battery and a 144Hz AMOLED display at the top of its K14 series. The phone starts at INR 29,999 (about $314) and goes on sale on 8 October through Flipkart and Oppo's India online store, coinciding with the start of Flipkart's Big Billion Days sale.

The 8,000mAh battery is 1,000mAh larger than the one in the standard K14. It supports 45W SUPERVOOC wired charging, bypass charging, and 10W reverse wired charging, and Oppo says it will retain at least 80% of its capacity after 1,800 full charge cycles.

MediaTek's Dimensity 7360 Max powers the phone. The same chipset runs the Oppo K15 in China and the OnePlus Turbo 6X. The 4nm chip combines four Cortex-A78 cores clocked at up to 2.5GHz with four Cortex-A55 cores at up to 2.0GHz and an Arm Mali-G615 GPU, paired with up to 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. 

Oppo also fitted a 5,000mm² vapour chamber, up from 3,900mm² on the K14, along with a 19,989mm² graphite heat dissipation layer. The 6.78-inch 1.5K AMOLED panel has a resolution of 2772 by 1272 pixels, a 144Hz refresh rate, and a pixel density of 450 PPI. Oppo rates it at 3,600 nits of peak brightness and uses 2160Hz PWM dimming.

An aluminum frame and internal collision beams make up the chassis, which carries IP69K, IP69, IP68 and IP66 ratings against dust and water. The phone measures 162.6 by 77.6 by 8.4mm and weighs about 207g.

On the back, a 50MP SmartSens SC532HS main camera with optical image stabilization sits alongside a 2MP secondary sensor, and the rear setup records 4K video. A 16MP Sony IMX480 camera handles selfies.

The K14 Plus runs Oppo's ColorOS on Android 16, and Oppo has committed to two years of OS upgrades and three years of security patches. Other features include an in-display optical fingerprint sensor, a hybrid dual-SIM slot, 5G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and a USB-C port.

The 6GB and 128GB model costs INR 29,999, while the 8GB and 128GB and 8GB and 256GB versions cost INR 32,999 (about $346) and INR 35,999 (about $377) respectively. An instant bank discount of INR 4,000 on sale day lowers the effective prices to INR 25,999, INR 28,999 and INR 31,999, and buyers can also choose a six-month no-cost EMI plan. The K14 Plus comes in Solar Orange and Star White.
