Oppo has confirmed several key details regarding its upcoming 8.8-inch compact tablet.
Oppo has revealed the key specifications for its upcoming compact tablet, dubbed the Pad Mini. Powered by the admirable Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 SoC with up to 12 GB of RAM, the 8.8-inch Pad Mini measures in at just 5.39-mm thick and weighs just under 280 grams or 9.88 ounces.

It has already been confirmed that the Oppo Pad Mini compact tablet will see the light of day roughly a week from now, on the 21st of April. We do know a fair bit about the upcoming tablet, courtesy of a plethora of leaks and rumors surrounding the gadget.

However, it now appears that there remains no doubt regarding some of the key details of the Oppo Pad Mini tablet, since the brand has already officially revealed several key details. As rumored, the compact tablet will indeed sport an 8.8-inch 2.5K OLED display with a refresh rate of 144 Hz.

Oppo Pad mini: High-end SoC despite a shockingly thin enclosure

Also as rumored before, the compact tablet will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 SoC. Of course, the 8 Elite Gen 5 SoC found in higher-end tablets such as the Lenovo Legion Tablet Gen 5 is as much as 24% and 52% faster in synthetic single-core CPU and GPU benchmarks respectively. That said, the 8 Gen 5 is no slouch and should be able to handle almost any high-end workload that one might have for a tablet. An 8,000-mAh battery has also been confirmed.

At just around 5.39 mm thin, the Oppo Pad Mini is impressively slim, and is of course a lot sleeker than the aforementioned Legion Tab Gen 5. Even the Apple iPad mini, which has long been due for an upgrade and features a 2-generation-old processor, is only around 6.3-mm thin. The Pad Mini also features shockingly thin uniform bezels surrounding the display, which are only 2.99-mm in thickness according to Oppo.

Moreover, Oppo has revealed that the tablet will be available in three colorways - Lavender, Green, and Slate.

Pricing and availability

Pricing details for the Oppo Pad Mini are under wraps for now. The same goes for global availability, although it should be noted that Oppo does have a proclivity to bring its products outside of China.

At any rate, interested customers won't have to wait long to have all the details regarding the compact tablet, considering that the 21st of April is less than a week away as of this writing.
