Reviews for the Oppo Find X8 Ultra
The Find X8 Ultra is a spectacular flagship phone with the Snapdragon 8 Elite and the best camera hardware. Oppo has installed a whopping five sensors into its premium phone to ensure perfect photos. Even so, there are more reasons why the Galaxy S25 Ultra and iPhone 16 Pro should fear this device.
We're comparing the crème de la crème in the high-end smartphone segment. With the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, Oppo Find X8 Ultra, Xiaomi 15 Ultra and Vivo X200 Ultra, all devices should take "ultra" good photos and videos. Read on to find out who wins the battle for the camera throne.

All in all, the Find X8 Ultra is an awesome phone that’s as good an example as any of what’s capable today with modern mobile technology. I think it’s clearly better than anything Apple, Samsung, or Google are selling in the U.S. today. Does that mean you should import it? Probably not. But it does mean you should raise your standards for the next time those companies try to sell you on new hardware.

The Find X8 Ultra from OPPO isn’t without its flaws. The biggest point against it, however, is the fact that it’s not available in India officially. And that’s disappointing because it is one of the best Android phones money can buy. It offers great build quality, complete with an IP69 rating, smooth performance, good battery life, fast charging, a brilliant display and a top-notch camera experience. I couldn’t get the full software and AI experience, so that remains to be seen… but even without that, I can say that the Find X8 Ultra is a solid device. Maybe OPPO can consider bringing it to India officially… though I suspect that might just make its rivals sweat profusely.

The OPPO Find X8 Ultra stands out as a formidable contender in the flagship space, particularly for mobile imaging. Equipped with Hasselblad color tuning and a dedicated camera for color accuracy, it excels in both photography and videography, delivering vibrant, true-to-life images and versatile zoom options. The device also offers solid performance and impressive battery life, making it a well-rounded choice. While its sleek design and ergonomic feel add to the overall appeal, its regional exclusivity remains a key drawback, limiting its availability. Still, for photography and videography enthusiasts who can get their hands on this device, the X8 Ultra offers exceptional value in a high-end smartphone.

The Find X8 Ultra is another superb phone from Oppo that you won't be able to buy or, as an expert, I can't recommend it to readers in India. Much like some other Ultras, the Find X8 Ultra comes with a 1-inch sensor that makes it super elite in the class of camera phones. Considering that the Find X8 Pro doesn't get this, Oppo should have introduced the Ultra in India, maybe as a limited edition, and it would have been a package worth checking for camera smartphone enthusiasts despite the high price tag. The Find X8 Ultra ticks a lot of boxes, including solid design, display, performance, and battery. Of course, the cameras remain a highlight of the device. Especially the decision to cut down some weight in favour of bringing a sleek camera phone is a masterstroke. Imagine getting a 1-inch sensor without carrying a bulky phone, which is a shot worth taking.

The Oppo Find X8 Ultra has snuck in to snatch the ultra phone crown (for now anyway – stay tuned for the Vivo X200 Ultra in a few short weeks). If I had a checklist of what I want from a phone, this is it, and I am struggling to think of all that much that could be improved. The phone itself is top class, with a new design that is the thinnest Ultra phone yet. The design is more subtle than previous generations, but it's sophisticated and premium, and it feels great in the hand. The screen is also a stunner, with a flat display with minimal bezels. Performance is powerful, and while the phone isn't conservative with the 6,100mAh battery, it does keep plugging away all day. But cameras are where this Ultra phone really shines, and Oppo's four (five, including the True Chroma camera) are something spectacular.

The Find X8 Ultra brought us few surprises - in the most positive way possible. It improves on an already excellent camera system, adding refinement and polish at both ends of the zoom range, while also taking much needed strides towards camera hump compactness (it's obviously all relative, of course). Perfectionists would always find grounds for complaint, but they'd need to look long and hard here. Oppo's push for bringing size down is manifested in other areas too, and the handset is reasonably thin, but is still premium as ever, and dust and water-tight as much as the best in the business. Battery life didn't suffer in the process and neither did fast charging, so that's a couple more wins.

The Oppo Find X8 Ultra is the most surprising non-folding phone this year. Like most Oppo phones, it delivers excellent battery life and performance, but it also features the best camera on an ultra phone and several unique features. The Find X8 Ultra camera is in a class of its own, and the True Chroma sensor is a feature I hope will be used on more phones. Then there’s the software, and it’s the first time a Chinese ROM has felt so polished and similar to a global ROM. The biggest surprise is the price. Even with additional margin added by third parties, you can buy it right now for around $1,000. For that, you’ll get the best Ultra phone in 2025 and my favorite camera phone to boot. Yes, it isn’t launching globally, so you’ll need to import it rather than buy it from an established local retailer, but it’s the first time I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend doing so. It’s the best Oppo phone ever made and one of the best phones you can buy now.

The Oppo Find X8 Ultra is a brilliant Android device that does many things right. It has a friendly and understated design language that shines with its simplicity, while also offering some unique hardware features that set it apart. Battery life is absolutely incredible — the phone just goes, and goes, and goes… The performance is snappy, too, and animations look buttery smooth. Typically for Oppo, the charging is exceptional too. Finally, the camera is feature-rich and delivers awesome image and video quality. Honestly, this is as close to that perfect phone you have in your mind as it gets, and it's hard to think what else can be improved. I only miss the antireflective coating from the Galaxy S25 Ultra feature, but no other phone has that unfortunately.

The only negative with the Find X8 Ultra has to do with the software; the Chinese version of ColorOS has too many inconsistencies to be usable outside the country — particularly if you want to use Google services. That's why it's annoying that the device won't be debuting in global markets; OPPO has to do better in this area, and launch its best products to a wider audience. Other than that, there isn't anything to fault with the device. It has a great AMOLED panel, the best hardware currently available, standout battery life with the best charging tech in the industry, and the best cameras. The main 1-inch camera continues to be a delight to use in 2025, and the auxiliary lenses are among the best of any phone I used this year. The Find X8 Ultra does a fantastic job with videos as well, and I thoroughly enjoyed using the phone.

Once seen as secondary players to major brands like Samsung and Apple (to name a couple), the continued rise of companies like Oppo have been incredible to witness, thanks to highly-impressive hardware that has taken several markets outside North America by storm.

Although Oppo has confirmed the plan for the Find X8 Ultra is to launch it in China only, a statement I received provides a positive note. “However, many of the innovative technologies featured in this device will be integrated into future OPPO products, which will be made available in more regions globally,” said Oppo. So, the Find X8 Ultra may be with us in spirit, as parts of another handset in the future – hopefully the cameras. I’d rather have the Ultra, but we’ll have to make do with the Oppo Find X8 and Find X8 Pro, I suppose.

The OPPO Find X8 Ultra excels in nearly every aspect: its Danxia-powered camera redefines mobile photography, the 2K flat display sets a new standard for visuals, and the Snapdragon 8 Elite ensures future-proof performance. While the lack of a curved screen may polarize some, its practicality and elegance make it a compelling choice. Priced competitively, it’s a top contender for users seeking a no-compromise flagship. As OPPO’s “only straight-screen Ultra”2, it not only challenges rivals but also heralds a renaissance for flat-screen designs in the premium segment.

It is a small display format for smartphones. You shouldn't be severely defective in vision, and you won't see much detail on the screen and only have a small resolution available. For that, the device should be small and handy, easy to transport.
