The OnePlus Nord appears to have been one of the success stories of the year so far, with a huge marketing campaign rocketing the affordable smartphone to some semblance of stardom in the mobile phone world. While other OEMs have jumped aboard the hype train with plans to produce a “OnePlus Nord killer” of their own, it seems the Chinese company is happy to produce its own successor devices to carry on the mantle of “value champion”.
Various OnePlus Nord-related devices have been whispered about recently: We reported about a potential OnePlus Nord Lite smartphone with a Snapdragon 690 chip last month and there have been signs of a OnePlus Clover device that seemingly sports a Snapdragon 660. Additionally, a recent post by tipster Chun stated that the OEM had a new phone in the works that would feature a Snapdragon 662 or 665 SoC, and that this possible OnePlus Nord 2 will apparently be released in September and be priced at ₹16,000 to ₹18,000 (US$217 to US$244) at launch time. That seems to be very much OnePlus Nord territory.
If that wasn’t enough, hardcore OnePlus fans may have also heard of a supposed OnePlus Aurora handset. This latter smartphone appeared in a well-crafted concept video at the beginning of the month, and there is a rumor that this device, codenamed “Billie 1” and “Billie 2” (for multiple configurations), will feature the Snapdragon 690 – so it is even possible this is the same smartphone as the previously mentioned OnePlus Nord Lite. As the OnePlus Nord is reportedly not going to be made available on the US market, it could be the OnePlus Aurora that eventually arrives on North American shores.
