For years, OnePlus dedicated itself to making flagship phones with the newest, most powerful Qualcomm chipsets available. That changed with the release of the OnePlus Nord a while ago, however, with the company finally launching a mid-range phone. Apparently, though, that isn't where it ends.
Information gleaned from what appears to be OnePlus proprietary code shows that the company has another smartphone in the works. The code has references to the Snapdragon 855, Snapdragon 865, and the Snapdragon 765G. OnePlus is currently supporting phones with those chipsets. There's an entirely new SoC listed too, though: the SM4250.
It should come as no surprise that the SM4250 is, in fact, a Qualcomm chipset. It's a pretty new one, too—the Snapdragon 460 that was launched earlier in the year. It's safe to assume that OnePlus will be launching a new phone in the near future that's equipped with the Snapdragon 460.
It's not an outlandish idea either, as there have been sightings of an unknown OnePlus device on benchmarks. A few weeks ago, a "OnePlus Clover" was spotted on Geekbench. That device may be linked to this one. It was also revealed a few days ago that OnePlus had certified an 18 W charger, which further shows that there are legs to this.
