BMW is lending its name to the first iQOO phone to feature this OEM's latest, 120 watt (W) form of charging. At least, this is the impression given by a new poster alleged to be an official teaser for its upcoming launch event. The 2 brands are also now partners in the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters (DTM) racing series.

120W charging may be a sought-after new spec in phones: not only can it charge a 4000mAh battery in as little as 15 minutes, it features in the new super-premium flagship, Xiaomi's Mi 10 Ultra. This may be why  iQOO is said to have built a whole new series of phones around the new technology.

Now, the OEM has reportedly announced a special BMW-themed edition of the same at their August 17, 2020 launch. This iQOO 5 BMW or possibly Racing Edition may be the only one to support this FlashCharge 120W standard.  According to its teaser, it also has a carbon-fiber effect (at least) rear panel and a triple rear camera with a periscope lens.

In other news, the same 2 brands have unveiled a partnership for the DTM, a motorsport series in which BMW is a competitor. Given that it takes place in Europe, this may also be a sign that iQOO wants to break into the same market. Should it bring its well-priced flagship Z and Neo lines with it, the latest generations of which feature top-end Snapdragon and Dimensity silicon, it may find a good reception there.
