OnePlus smartphones have been getting more and more expensive over the past couple of years. For example, the OnePlus 8 Pro costs three times as much as the OnePlus One. Another inexpensive device with good features and a lot of performance from the manufacturer has been long overdue.
The OnePlus Nord is supposed to satisfy the high expectations of the fans and simultaneously attract new customers. Since the OnePlus Nord has a lot to offer at prices starting from 399 Euros (~$467) that is usually foreign to this price range, this may just work out: This includes a fast 90-Hz screen, four cameras on the back with multiple zoom steps and high-quality picutres. On the front of the OnePlus Nord, there are two cameras for wider-angle shots, for example when taking group pictures.
Although there is no Wi-Fi 6 support, the Wi-Fi is still fast. The GPS is precise, the call quality decent and the fairly color-accurate display of the OnePlus Nord uses a panel with AMOLED technology, which is known for its high contrast ratios. Furthermore, the build quality of the smartphone is great and since it is not a huge phone, it may even be worth considering for fans of smaller devices.
While the smartphone comes without a top-end SoC, the Snapdragon 765G is still fast enough for almost all apps. The advantage of even faster SoCs only becomes noticeable in a select few, very demanding apps for specific purposes or when multitasking.
So, are there any reasons left to pay more for a smartphone? There are still a few things missing from the OnePlus Nord that have become standard on current flagship devices. What those are and many detailed test results can be found in our in-depth review of the OnePlus Nord.
