The 90Hz OPPO A53 is the world's first Snapdragon 460-powered phone
Earlier leaks had indicated that OPPO would launch 2 new phones it had built around the Qualcomm "bengal" processor in a number of countries, Indonesia included. Today (August 20, 2020), this has been proven true. The A53 has arrived on this market, albeit with little enough fanfare.
Regardless, this new device may garner interest due to one or two compelling features. Not only does it finally confirm that bengal is in fact the 460, but it has a 90Hz display: something not usually seen in this tier of the smartphone market. The screen in question is a 6.5-inch HD+ panel with a 20:9 aspect ratio. It also features a single 16MP punch-hole camera.
The OPPO A53 has a rear panel made of glass-mimicking polycarbonate, and also houses a fingerprint sensor. There are triple cameras on this side, although they are 13+2+2MP shooters. The A53, as hinted in its Geekbench leak, has 4GB of RAM, which comes in just one 64GB internal storage SKU.
Therefore, it will be up to the individual consumer to decide whether it is worth its 2,449,000 Indonesian rupiah (~US$169) price. The A53 is also touted to launch in a few other countries, India and Thailand included. However, potential buyers here should also be aware that the A73 may also arrive soon afterward. This phone has the same SoC and RAM as its new sibling, but may have different features besides.
